Picked up a pretty clean 1987 Honda 200X yesterday, had to drive a little over 2 hours to get it but now it's mine lol!!! The tank isn't as good as I hoped, it's got a few pin holes in it but I'll see if I can fix it with jb weld for now until I can get a new one. I'm happy with it though but I think it goin to end up being my girlfriends bike. She's taking quite the liking to it, I new I would get her to join the trike world eventually :Bounce

Very nice score you got there. Looks like it'll make a good rider. Any plans to just get it running and driving or a partial restoration on that bad boy?

It actually runs very well just need to fix the tank and maybe some swingarm bearings. Clutch seems a little week but he gave me a brand new dirt digger clutch kit with it so ill be putting that in soon.

I traded a quad for it yesterday and other than fuel I've only got about $300 in it so I don't think I got hurt at all

$300 is a steal for that bike. You made out on the better half of the trade.

How hard is it goin to be to find a good OEM tank for this trike or will one off of an 86 work?

Well it being a 87 makes it rare. So any parts will be hard to find or expensive. I would try to find a OEM tank because to me the tank really stands out on a 87 200x with the way the 200x goes from the shrouds to the tank. But it's up to you. Maybe someone else can answer your questions better.

I live in Missouri too, and I was gonna buy that thing! Hah, small world. I love the 86-86 X, awesome bikes! I have an 86. The 86 and 87 are the same thing, the only difference really were the plastics and the tank. If your looking for a new gas tank, you can find an 86 easily. I don't know about the 87 tanks though, those will be hard to find. Looks like a nice trike, I wish I would have gotten it!

Guess u won't wait so long next time lol jk. It is a good little bike but the tank has seen better days and the fins are trashed. I sanded down the tank and jb welded quite a few pin holes and repainted it. Try to make it work for now until I can get a new one. What's different about the tanks on an 86 to a 87?

Where u at in MO? I'm kinda southeast of KC about 45 minutes almost to clinton

Nothing different on the gas tank from 86 to 87.

87 has white shrouds and different decals, other than that the tanks are compatable. Nice score on the 87.
