Ok, if any of you have read my other thread, my frame on the 83 200E is hacked together by the PO. My forks are also junk. I can get a 200X frame with forks and triples, but no swingarm, that has a different engine cradle welded in for 35$. From the pictures I have studied, the top bar of the frame is quite different. My intent was to cut the stem and top/down frame tube back far enough and weld onto my frame. I have no idea how well this will work, but for 35$ it's still worth getting the 200X stuff. Once side by side with my trike, I will then decide how to proceed.

Has anyone Ever attempted this? Or anything even close to this?

You can buy a stem adapter pin from Ol Duece that'll let your 200x front stem fit your 200e.

Quite a few people have attempted this actually. Some people have even thrown swingarms are the hardtail machines. I guess Ol Duece is the one that sells those stem adapters so try to get ahold of him. You'll need a press to get out that stem. I wish i had pictures of how i got my stem out without a press. If your even remotely interested in hearing how i did it without a press read on haha

I took a piece of railroad tie wood and drilled a hole just a tad bigger than the stem. I placed the bottom triple with the bottom of the stem above the hole I had drilled out. I set that railroad tie on a jack and lifted the jack up. I put the top of the stem (with nut on, and rag over that so no scratches happened) underneath our heavy duty jeep bumper. I then jacked the jack up until the bumper was about 6 inches higher than the normal spot. I jumped on the bumper 1 time and it pushed the stem clear out and into the railroad tie =)

That whole process took 15minutes, just a thought if you don't have a press or know anybody with a press.

I just got an 84 200s frame, no forks, for 10$. looking at my frame and this one, I am realizing the weld patch from the PO is really killing my "weld another front end on" method. I am hopefully getting that 200x frame tomorrow or friday because I will be reained out at work. We will see if I can't figure out how to morph them together.

I got the 200x frame and forks. Also an extra 185 engine missing a few parts. I believe I need bearings for the forks but I have not checked the misc bin I got with it. I wil assess the situation tonight and post some pictures to see if anyone might have any ideas I don't.

how are you planning on mounting the tank? on a 200x, the tank hooks into two rubber grommets near the stem and bolts to the part in front of the air filter, not sure how a 200e works

Basically the same way. The pins that the rubber grommets go on ar a tish wider on the 200x, so I will have to grind them down a bit. But that was the only measurement I needed to keep was from the bolt hole by air box to the pins on the front. It will work great once I get new rubbers as these ones are toast.

Doneish!! Still need fender and headlight brackets. Not the best handling thing in the world as far as aggressive high speed turns haha, but it will be an awesome trail trike. Real nice ride with plenty of power to pull through the corners.

I give props for doing it, but it just looks like a mess to me, being that tall in the front and nothing out back.

I have seen front suspension swaps on hard tails, but I would put rear suspension on it too since you are definitely not scared of a little cutting and welding. Still cool to see people making it work!

But in all honesty, throw away those handle bars before one half comes off and sticks through you.

I ordered 200x bars when i ordered the wheel, but they sent the wrong ones. So I made the stock ones work for now. Once a fender is on there it will clean it up greatly. And the front is only about 3/8" taller than original. Ill get used to it, ride the piss out of it, then sell it for a nice profit to some older guy that wants a comfortable trail rider.

I like it, nice job, I can't wait to see what it looks like with the fender. You defiantly got the gears turning in my head.
I second those handle bars, only thing that looks bad to me

King dont bother cutting anything if you don't need to. The PO had demolished the frame on mine and it was crooked, so that's why I welded the 200x front on. And Bikeboneyard found the correct bars for me so they are going to send those.

Got a fender in the mail! And I am working a local guy for headlight or even just headlight mounting hardware so I could use my factory BigRed light with a little extra metal.

A headlight at last!!! And a fender flap at the bottom from an atc110. Now just for the bulb lock ring and it will be complete. I'll get the factory 200x bars soon.
