Haven't had a 3 wheeler in years since my 81 250r . Jus had my sled for sale on craigslist and a dude offered me a trade even up for a tri z 250. So I went to look at it with a buddy of mine. it started hard and smoked a lot when it finally fired but had great compression and seemed to run strong but it wouldn't shift . So I gave it a day of thought and ended up trading him. Got er home today and tore her down to figure out the shifting problem and found a smoked clutch and a broken tooth on the pawl that grabs the shift drum, no biggie tho I got a box of parts with that in:lol: it just have to order a clutch kit and found out why it smokes turns out the gearbox side crank bearing is bad but all else seems to be good so the motors heading to the shop. Will post pics tmw I can't figure out what year it is the frame vin is jy31Rx0020c00256 the motor number is 1px-003010 and the spare cases that idk what year they came out of # is 38w-000497

Welcome to the forums, just by looking at it i believe its an 86 just going by the color. I think that was the only year they did that. Dont quote me on it though, i never owned one.

No problem, that is an 86. Had some improvements too in 86' like a 6 speed transmission, one inch bigger rear rims, maybe some other things but im not sure. I think they look better too than the 85 which had the yellow and black color scheme. 85.5 had the red and black.
