Just wondering what model years the tri-z 250 was available? Going to pick one up this weekend and the seller claims it's an 84. I thought they were only available for 85 and 86 years. Also it's going to be in need of plastics, new seat foam and seat cover. For fenders I'm guessing Maier is my only option and DC for the rad shrouds. Found a replica oem seat cover but unsure of where I can find replacement seat foam. Any help would be great.

A member on here did work on custom seat covers and foam. Let me see if i can find it.

Mrs.Mosh is the members name, here is the link to the thread and all of her work. A link to her website is also there. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/117039-Cosmic-Quads-custom-seats-and-covers...8-years-worth-of-work-in-here.

Click on the multiple pages to see all the work, quite amazing.

Mrs. Mosh also had a thread recently in classifieds selling some aftermarket tri z plastics...if you can't access the classified section yet you could pm her. Tri z's were 85-86 only, the 85.5 is actually just an 85 with different color plastics and wheels. Good luck with it, they're fun bikes!

Definitely a fixer upper. Doesn't run at the moment, needs a stator, but the seller has one for it. Apparently it has a new top end done and an Answer pipe. All this for only $800.

That is an 85. You know, loosely speaking, it was SUPPOSE to be an 84. Yamaha had plans to release the 85 as an 84 model, the 85.5 as an 85, and obviously the 86 as an 86. Production was pushed back, and the 84 became an 85, the 85 an 85.5 ect. Just think about what would have happened to the market had the Tri-Z hit tracks in 84.........

Man $800 and it dosent run? Triz must be a little more rare up there! I sold mine with faded non cracked plastics fair shape with a fresh top end in need of a fuel pump for 700 here! Lol

Got it home now. Build date on it is 06/84. Not sure if this is truly one of the early models for the production year.

I think Yamaha trikes in general are kinda rare up here where I live in Canada. Only the second Tri-z I've ever seen. A rebuilt one runs between 3 & 4 usually. Plenty of Honda utility machines though. Anything built for racing is hard to find and usually packs a pretty good price tag with it. Found one delusional guy asking 7 grand for a 200x today on Kijiji

Lol, it could be a lucrative business. I'm still In need of 3 more machines so maybe I'll have to come stateside for my next shopping spree. Still want to get a 200x, 250r and a Tecate. Then my 3 wheeler collection will be complete.
