I see alot of users running into CDI weak/no spark issues, and replacing with the GY6 A/C fired units from china on the 200es. Would these units have the same effect on a 200s? It is listed as an '85, but has the '84 coil, which also tested bad.

Anyone tried the 'performance' versions of these?

Yes, they will work good on the 200S as well. I have put them on almost everything now, 110,125M,200...

The performance version of them sometimes have an electrical advance, which messes things up because the motor already has mechanical advance. So you end up too advanced between the two. There is some non advancing performance units, but they aren't that big of a difference. Slightly more voltage, which means a slightly more powerful spark. I tried a few on my 200ES, it was hit or miss, i did find one that gave me ok results but would sometimes sit and miss fire at idle. Put the $8 cheapie back on and all was well.

Awesome, thank you for the quick reply. I was curious about the performance units and the increased advance and forgot about the mechanical one built in the engine. Do you have a link to the correct 4+2 pigtail for the harness?

Even though the coil tested bad with high resistance, any advantage to getting one the orange 'hot' coils? This engine is in a yerf dog mini buggy with a fresh top end and 200x piston.

I just buy one of these pigtails, saves a lot of time rebuilding a harness for them. Not a huge advantage on the coil, again the windings are such to create a slightly higher voltage output but i find its more hype then reality. Most of those orange coils are good units though.

For anyone still following, or wanting to change to the scooter CDI, I found these harnesses also. I am a fan of keeping our $$ in the states, plus faster shipping. Just snip the other end off, and you are good.
