I have a guy wanting to trade me an old Jeep FC 170 for his KLT 250. He says it only has 423 miles on it. Pics make it look real sharp and clean. I haven't been up close and personal tho. So what do these things bring on the open market now a days?

Condition, condition, condition. Pictures will make most bikes look good, it hides many flaws. Especially mechanical flaws.
As far as the miles, there is no way to prove that so you cant even go by that. Unless he has paperwork saying it was all rebuilt and gone through recently.
So how much is one worth? I have no clue, but i do know one thing. Its no ATC250es. Some people like the klt's but there is not that many that would take it over a 250es.

I say keep your Jeep FC unless condition wise its bad. Because i just googled one and they look like a lot of offroad fun.

Ya, i told the guy if it were a Honda i'd be all over it. I still have my little 70 from back when i was 5. Got a guy trading me a '90 BMW 325i Convert for the jeep instead. Just glad someone else responded with pretty much the same feelings i was having after reading the site.

Its kinda funny, the difference in price from the klt250 and the kxt250 tecate is only $150 in 1984.

I would think if it had a few improvements in design it would be a better deal, mainly rear suspension. But it did have some other common mechanical problems from what i saw on old threads here.
