That thing is freakin huge! How long is it?

Have any of you ever waved your hand past the nose of a rattler a few hours after it was deemed “dead”? Try it some time, but don't get too close!

PS. Be a good son and get your Dad a Big Red to use on his hunting trips.

Think his nose and head are gone!! I do know after killing them they will move around for two hours or so.. The biggest one I ever killed was about that size back in 87 here in Tucson.

I've only seen 3 in my life and I killed 2 of them, both about 4' long. Many a Texan has told me to cut the head off and bury it, cuz the fangs can pump venom for hours after death. The third one almost bit my kid and took off into the grass before I could find a stick to kill it. To anyone who says "Oh, don't hurt them, they keep the rodent population down" I say "get a cat and shut up".

So who's gonna tell Billy his Dad should be wearing a helmet?;)

I remember seeing r.s. skins in south Florida when I was a kid. Bonita / Naples southwest Fla.
Maybe because I was only little, but it seems like they hung from the roof to the floor in a neighbors garage.
Everyone warned about the coral snakes as being more dnagerous so I just went and got bit in the face by a dog on the beach when the lady said it was ok to pet it.

She said ok to PET it not FEED it! I laugh, but I've had a parrot cut right through my lip and I once had a little pup sink it's razzor sharp teeth right through my nose. Both hurt like heck and both left permanent scars, but only the dog required a shot (that is to say I did, not the dog!) Still, I'd take 100 of either over a rattler bite!

He had seen a skin from it about 2 weeks earlier, so he was out looking for it in the same place actually.

I recently killed a baby rattle snake on my property in Ocala, FL. There was only 1 or 2 small rattles on it's tail. This thing was moving around so much after shooting it, I couldn't pick it up with my rake. The only way I could move it was to pick it up (which I was not about to do) or impale it's head on my rake to pick it up for disposal. When I lived in Arizona, we used to see rattle snakes in the desert all the time. During the winter time, they would be attracted to your trikes because of the warm engine.

That's a monster.

I grew up with sidewinders near Palm Springs, CA. They don't get that big.

Even most hippies will kill rattlers sight un seen. Their is usually some non leathal competition an rattlers are ornery. I also know bald 10 ply tires kill rattles better than fresh 4ply with my pickup in 4 years in cali killed 2 by truck 1 on my motorcycle 2 by shovel and a baby one with rocks
