Latest issue the machine will run for a bit then die. Plug will come out wet and black. Clean it and can repeat the process. Increased gap to 40 and it does the same but the plug will be dry and carboned.
If I buy a new plug it runs longer but does the same thing. Suggestions?
Seperate issue, I think, I noticed I have water in my recoil (normal?)

Well the water in the recoil will be let out. Forgot to remove compression and snapped the rope trying to start.

Have you gone through the exhaust on this machine?? Sounds exactly like what mine did when the exhaust was partially plugged, running too rich and fouling plugs. I seem to recall you did something with the exhaust but i don't remember for sure now, sorry about that old mind!
From what you explain though the plug is fouling and then your losing ignition. Its definitely running too rich. That plug should be a nice tanish brown all the time. Is it burning any oil? Smoking?

Wet with oil or gas? Smoke from the tail pipe..colour?
Compression test engine and report back..
Top-end refresh time or just a carb issue..not enough info to judge!

Light grey smoke. Sometimes. Never was able to get spark arrestor off. Have done nothing else with exhaust.

I would say you still have an exhaust or carb issue. Though its very common to have a bad exhaust on it, seems like a few 200ES owners on here have dealt with it now including me, and i had another one that wasnt mine with the same problem.

Worried about messing with carb. When it is running the carb is just right
