Hey, my name is Jacob Beach.
I grew up all over as a military brat, and was raised on dirtbikes. One day deep in the nachez in Elbe trails Washington, at the age of 6, we were doing a difficult ride. I was brand new, and I was on a Suzuki rm60, the bike I learned on. That was a psycho bike. Anyways, we were stopped and taking a brake, and i heard a couple of two strokes FLYING towards us. The trails were so tight and technical, I couldn't help but wonder what they were riding and how the were going so fast. Low and behold I look at the trail and over the hill that I had just gotten up two 250r's go airborne and pass us with the throttle pinned and constantly on two wheels for the whole 3 seconds I saw them until they were gone again... these two kids must have been psychos, and i was sold. I had to ride a three wheeler.
Later on my family got a hold of an atc110. My dad is a 230lbs goofball and he had the heads ported, had the engine stroked, full race exhaust, and Blackwater tires on the little goofy thing, and we cracked the frame every other outing for the last ten years.
My dad is now stationed in Alaska, and the old 110 recently had its last ride in the hands of my brother. Him and my dad were flying down a trail in Alaska and my brother jumped the poor trike and upon landing the trike gave up the ghost and disintegrated into at least 3 parts.
I just got out of the military myself, got married and settled down in southern kentucky. I recently blew up my beast of a jeep Cherokee, and decided it was time for me to mature, so I got a little manual 2 wheel drive Mazda b3000. The gayest vehicle to ever have a truck bed, and undoubtedly one of Ford's many shames. But I have to get back into the dirt.
It seems like every time I see a good deal I dont have cash or it gets sold out from under me. I just missed a perfect 350x for a grand!
Right now I am looking at an immaculate '85 200x that needs a new kickstart return spring that is selling for $900. To repair this I have to split the case right? If all else is perfect, is it worth it?

I think you have to remove the right side case cover. Not split the bottom end I am pretty sure.

If it's really immaculate it may be worth the $900. However up in NY the 200X's are a little more common and I'm pretty cheap

Yeah, I ended up finding a really nice one and the guy said he would let it go for 700. It just needs an air filter. I picked up a uni comp filter and I should be picking it up tomorrow!

Heres what I ended up getting! Bone stock 85 200x. The clutch slips a little and i have an airfilter on the way, but it runs well!
It could also use a new front tire pretty soon, and rear tires not to long after.

All original, even the original tools are in there! I was told it was sitting in a garage for 10-12 years. Now im just waiting for the air filter to get it. It runs great, but the clutch is slipping, so I guess ill be replacing that soon. Also, the clutch lever seems a whole lot stiffer than usual...
Any suggestions on a clutch and front tire?

Order a new clutch cable before it tears up another clutch LOL . A stiff cable doesn't let the plates seat correctly and causes premature clutch failure . I also recommend HD springs as well .

you guys are lucky down in the states, i live way up north in canada and machines like that just dont seem to exist, all you can find once and a while are 200x's in very pour condition for minimum 1500$, or people slap a set of maier's on and try and sell them for 2500-3000, thats just for a 200x, i dont even want to talk about 350x's

I just picked up a 1986 350x for 500 bucks but dam is it beat to hell and back then beat again. But the good thing is the motor was never opened and the tank is like new. But it needs a lot of work but engine is perfect.

I am looking at a barret clutch kit that comes with springs and costs about $60, but there is also the pro x kit that is only 30 something.
I have also read that I need a special socket, and some gaskets...
Any advice on what to get, and a shop online I can get it all in one place?

That sure is a bummer. I have some family up in Canada, but when it comes to my hobbies, which include hunting, shooting, paintball, mountain biking, or longboarding(and now three wheeling) they kinda get the shaft.

I also need new bearings or bushings in the swingarm I just found out. The axles wobble a little within the swingarm :/
