Not trikes :P

I mean your daily driver, or your most prized vehicle.

This was out daily driver for 18 years until gas spiked. It's parked now. 1985 F-250 4x4...and it ain't nowhere near stock. The list is huge. I edited the top picture to make it look like it did before we parked it. It was different in the '90s a little bit as the wheels and roll bar were in primer so I edited it to the finished project (and cleaned it up a bit) as I have no good pictures of it. Gets about 6mpg. lol.

Nice red ford, I would love 6mpg, that would near double my MPG! Just ate another transmission. Mechanic said a burnout when towing a 10k dozer was a touch too much. Timing had retarded a bit, well a lot, due to alum intake is my guess. Should be making even more power. Off to the paint shop next week for the winter. Moving the Deere this spring

Nice GT-R!

And DAMNNNNN Look at that green truck. God I love the '70s ones just as much as the '80s ones. Thanks as well lol, my truck is on it's 3rd engine because we wanted more power each time, and a a bunch of other stuff done to it. Surprised it burnt out, I know people that haul 35-40k regularly without issue. I dig the truck though, man got any other pictures?

DAMNNNNN Look at that green truck. God I love the '70s ones just as much as the '80s ones.

I second that! Those Super Cab trucks were way ahead of their time and the 4X4 units were just plain bad azz. Too bad the smog restrictions on the big blocks were so stifling, it would have been nice to have seen more uncorked 460's roaming around in those trucks. In saying that I recall one a guy South of town had with a 427 stuffed into it, that thing was a tire shredder...

I'm more of a regular cab guy, but I agree they are great trucks. Very strong. I personally prefer the '80s trucks but the '70s come in at a close second. The last 351 I had in ours would, and I quote my dad, "smoke all 4". I've seen it done too...insane. That motor was nuts. It has a rebuilt but otherwise stocker in it right now tho. Lot of head work done to it, and some other goodies to bump the power up from 152hp to about 310 when it was new. In its prime it layed down 485 lb-ft of torque on the engine dyno, but with miles on it I'd say it's closer to like 380 going through a C6 which is a bump up of about 110 lb-ft or so. Got 50k on it now. Parked it in '07. Original engine was a 300 I6 and then we swapped in the built Windsor...god that thing was crazy. Never seen a truck burn 4 tires like that in my life. Not sure on the power figures on that one, but it wasn't even a stroker and it had to be laying down somewhere in the vicinity of 650hp.

Those 460s are nasty motors. Stock they are just a hint of what they are capable of. There are proven builds using all stock parts other than 30 over pistons, headers, recurved stock distributor and cam that laid down 380hp and 500lb-ft every day of the week. I think all the guy did was stuff a Lunati cam in it, ported the hell out of some D3OE (factory) heads, bored it out and stuck headers on it, and on top of that, it was a low, like smog era low compression engine that ran on 87 octane and would have easily taken a large amount of boost from a turbo system. Left the intake a stock cast iron 2 barrel too! Doesn't take much to beef up one of them. I love picking on my diesel buddies about that, they don't believe he made that kind of power at diesel low rpms.

350 with a 5 speed std. Wasn't a rocket, but it was fun to drive. The strips and graphics are painted on, did the paint myself outdoors one panel at a time after driving it into a bus, took forever to get it done.

Sounds like a fun setup. I got the C6 3 speed auto behind my 351 built/bored 357 Windsor with a 3/4 sped t case. Dana 44 TTB up front, 60 rear and 3.73 gears on 33s with manual locking hubs. Fun truck. Had a 3 inch body lift at one point. It's held way more than its rated in the bed too...I've had almost 2 tons of stone and solid rock in the bed alone.

Got kicked out of the car wash once because it had too much mud on it. Have a hard time going through drivethrus an stuff...everything on top scrapes.

11-09-2013, 10:34 PM
Cool, similar setup
C6 3spd with 4:11, 35" tires
Dana 60 front and back ( 2nd rebuild of both of those) will have to go to a 70 in the rear if I twist this one up again. I don't think there is a locker option for the 70? Good time to upgrade to rear disk too.
Shafts and carrier are cut from an f450.

Paint is gonna stay green but adding white to 2 tone it, between the chrome strips and over top of cab. I love the look of the headliner lights but don't want to deal w rust issues in future

slashfan7964
11-11-2013, 12:15 AM
If it's an open rear you can wild the internals and it will lock it. You can buy lockers for 70s. I'd leave the 60 in it though personally. You're not gaining much in strength, and there are literally a million gear ratio sets you can buy for them.

My current motor is out of a Ranchero (both V8s were) has all custom internals with Wiseco .30 over (or was it .45 over) pistons, everything was balanced internally. Intake is off a 1969 Boss 302 Mustang (16 bolt intake) with custom 1" or so aluminum gap spacers so it fits on the motor. Holley 650 4 barrel with vacuum secondaries and a 1" (had a 2" on it once) spacer, though I've used a 625 and another 650 once. Cam is some RV cam for more bottom end torque, runs a 302 firing order. MSD Blaster 5900 box with a Blaster 2 coil and a recurved Ford Racing distributor with 14* of advance. Was gonna put headers on it but I ran into and still have a clearance issue with the front driveshaft. So I ran extrude honed manifolds, the biggest factory ones you could get (one from a truck, another from a car). Everything was gasket matched. Heads were insanely ported, they are I want to say '69 302 heads. 3 angle valve job, guides, plugged excess water jackets and coolant passages. Bunch of other little crap done to it too. When it was fresh it and had longtubes on it, it laid down a healthy 310hp/485 on the flywheel though I'd be willing to be it's exceptionally less now. Motor is a dog compared to the last one.

My axle assembly is a bit funny. It's all stock, but it's not documented in anything. the Dana/Spicer 44 TTB never came with 3.73 gears. My door tag says 3.54...not the case and we never replaced them. The rear axle (D60) is also wonky, says it's a 3.54...nope got 3.73s in them with 31 spline axles (also not documented) and to top it off, it's a SEMI-FLOAT!!! Hahahaha. Never came factory, yet ours is stock. Think someone got a bit mixed up. Think they threw parts in it to use them but before the change to Sterling axles...mine was an early model and the change came a month after mine rolled off the line.

Front bumper is stock (in the garage) and a custom one for winter. I have a chrome pushbar with KC lights on it for summer and the plow for winter along with skimpy 235s. Rear bumper is custom and had to be put on with a forklift cause it was so heavy lol. Roll bars were bought, all lights etc etc. Love that damn thing. All sorts of goodies inside. Cell phone, CB, couple switches from other things etc.
