Those have been on Ebay for better part of a year..love to add one to my collection but just can't wrap my head around $875 for a 200cc engine!!

I might see thru to spend $500, but that price tag is a bit much!!

Now all we need is some NOS 250r and 350x motors!

Did honda destroy all its prototype stuff? Would be neat to see a 200R proto or a 81 liquid proto

Rebuild your head and bore your cylinder, Add all new tranny gears and a crank. SIMPLE CHOICE!!!!

below here are approx prices on some common things an old eng needs.

bore cyl, new piston, rings = 150

rebuild head with new cam and rockers = 250

new honda clutch discs = 125

clutch basket = 125

1 way bearing = 50

new 2 and 3rd gears and forks only = 250

total = 950 this does not include a rebuilt crank for 175

the new eng is 150 cheaper plus you get a ton more stuff.

you can sell your existing eng or they will give you money for it. has to be worth at least 100 without the ign. sell the ign for another 50.

now you have 650 in a new engine with all nos parts that will should run at least 5,000 miles without major repairs.. a street bike 4 stroke will go at least 40k and might only need 1 clutch during this time.

seems like a fair deal to me.

There's a difference between what these engines are worth and what people are willing to pay. These particular models arn't going to command top dollar. At $500 I'd consider buying a couple, at nearly $800 I can start finding good running machines that don't need much if mines worn out.

Don't get me wrong, he's asking a fair price, just not the price point where he'll sell them quickly thats for sure. At that price he'll still be sitting on engines when all the bikes needing engines arn't worth putting an engine in.

When will something like this ever turn up again. Kind of makes you wonder what else is sitting around in some old storage shed or basement waiting to be discovered.

If it is a model you love and are going to keep, spend the cash and buy it!!

Otherwise nickel and dime yourself until you sell it. Don't shoot yourself in the foot!!

The 350X motors now want 2-2.5K. I have plenty of crate motors from a few years back all less than 1200$ and the 350X is my choice of a ride so I grab everyone I see in that < 1200.00$ range. Heads alone command about 400$ so I can't lose! :D

I hear ya Louis, but as parts dry up. Again, if it is a model someone loves then grab it. Why bicker over 200$ or the cost of a valve job and the labor involved.

I have quiet a few trikes and sold very few in the past 10 years .........

those engines have been on ebay for a while.. I've been drooling over them, I considered buying one for the re-build I'm doing on my dads 85 200m.. I contacted the guy- he seems pretty nice... he will give you a core charge if you send him a "re-buildable" 200 engine so the price will a bit lower than what he advertised.. but he wants you to ship your motor & then he will tell you what kind of "core" charge he will give. I think they're worth the asking price.. brand new cam, crank, valves, starter, piston, cases..
