1984 KLT 200 won't start, please help

Ok, I have no idea what my problem is, so im just going to list what i have so far and hopefully someone can help me. I am pretty mechanically inclined when it comes to small motors like this and all the way up to 600's and even some things with vehicles. I've gone over the basics, Spark, check, Fuel, check, compression, check, all these things and i can't get this thing to even fire for a second. Every once and a while i can get it to backfire and it acts like it wants to crank, but nothing. If anyone has any suggestions please reply, anything will help. :wondering

hi there , to me knowing that you eliminated a spark issue and also eliminated any fuel issues and knowing that its backfiring it could be either timing or a valve ajustment. The valves should be tappet style and are pretty easy to ajust. i would start there. Goodluck!

^Agreed check the cam timing too, my chain was tooth off and it would backfire out the carb
