Hello all, traded one of my pinball machines for an '86 Honda 250SX a couple weeks ago. Only got to ride it around my yard so far, seems like every weekend since has been either bad weather or been sick :( Have some experience with three wheelers, a friend of mine had a pair of them we used to ride back in the 80s.
This one runs strong, in very good condition, looks good too. Planning to take it to Slades in Surry on Sunday and feel it out. It's killing me every time I walk thru the garage that I haven't got to put it through its paces, can't hardly get out of second gear in the yard....
Have been looking around and using MapQuest satellite to find some places near my house to ride. I'm right on the edge of southern Chesapeake, almost rural, but everywhere I look is posted. Read somewhere that there's a farmer near Benefit Road that allows riding, maybe someone on this forum has more details? Close to Suffolk also, if there's some riding areas around there.
Slades in Surry looks like the closest place to ride, 39 miles from here, not too bad, should be able to get there at least monthly for now, not a real cold-weather guy, but really itching to get this thing into the dirt.

Went to Slades Park today. Kinda wet and puddly in spots from the rain last night but.......
WHATTA BLAST! I'm still grinning like an idiot. Haven't rode a three wheeler in 25 years, and then didn't ride real hard cuz it wasn't mine and the deal was you break it, you pay for the fixes. So, started out a little slow, but within half an hour was putting the power to it, hard. I'll probably be sore tomorrow from pushing it so hard, but it'll be well worth it. Just can't believe how much fun this thing is, and it dominates any obstacles you throw at it. Torque is incredible, went through muddy washouts like they weren't even there. Also, found a couple guys on dirt bikes that were doing laps around a rough powerline oval trail and figured I'd tag along. I'll bet they were surprised at each end when they did the 180 berm turn and saw that trike hanging right with them for 3-4 laps.
Just really stoked right now, can't wait for next weekend....

I'm afraid you're one of us now.
Resistance is futile.
The hard part now is not buying every one you see.

Welcome....slades is probably the closest, but it sucks.... we go to busco alot it is a 3 hour drive but it is 2000 acres. We will be heading out to busco in spring when it warms.....we normally take the camper and stay a few days...let me know if you want to hook up...

Notice I said I traded a pinball machine for the Honda. Bought my first one three years ago (come February) and within two years had nine of them. Down to four now, I better not buy even that many three wheelers....they take up a little more room (but not much).
Funny thing is, I was looking at Craigslist ads for pinball and the three wheeler popped up because the owner said he'd trade for pinballs, guns, etc. Turns out he was the guy that sold me my first pinball machine ! And now he has it back again, ha.

Thanks for jumping in, Jeff. I've seen Buscos web site and it does look awesome, Slades would definitely suck in comparison. But, seems like the only playground anywhere close by....... Keep me informed if you would on the Busco trip, probably not in for a few days, but maybe Saturday, stay overnight, ride some Sunday and leave in the afternoon.

Very nice machine, and you've already been warned that these are very addicting, it's hard to justify buying more than 3 But I always find an excuse

very nice looking machine.
Thanks guys. Yeah, it's in great shape considering it's 27 years old, must not have been ridden a lot. Runs as good as it looks too. Looks even better now, got a new black seat cover installed (old one wasn't too bad, just one hole in the back). Since the tank is aftermarket red plastic instead of original white, I thought black and red combo would look good, need black front shock boots now. Would like it to be red, white and blue as stock, but those white OEM tanks are $$. Don't think you can paint red plastic white with good results??
Local weather will be sunny and 65 next Saturday, you know where I'll be.....

greeting from VA!!! I've been to Slades a few times, its great for a day ride, but Busco is awesome when it comes to a weekend getaway... You'll have to make it up to Slades one day next summer & watch the dirt drags, they have some incredible machines running down the track... I've only seen 2 other 3 wheelers up there before, one on the trails & the other on the drag strip. The SX is definitely at home in Slades park... plenty of deep mudholes... ohh... when your at the power lines next time stop for a sec, pull off your helmet & listen to sizzle of the lines... freaks me out!!! I live about 45 minutes west of RIC so Slades is a hike for me, I just there for the drag strip... I've only been to Busco once & was very impressed... they have a little store with gas pump on the property plus a few gas stations right outside. 2 mx tracks, plentry of hills & mud!!! if you search Red Eye Racing on youtube they have a lot of videos of the dragstrip at Slades... I have 2 videos up there of the first time I went there & raced search jsnbaird88..

Thanks Fooler, went and watched a bunch of the drag videos, wow. Definitely want to attend one, mostly to watch, but I'm game for a run down the track too. Saw you almost flipped yours off the startline.....
