It's amazing to me how much these things are worth. This one is spray bombed and in very bad shape and still bringing big bucks. It has free shipping though.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hrc-1985-1986-Honda-250r-Atc-Flat-Track-Kit-Rare-Hrc-Rare-Item-3-Wheeler-/301045691661?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4617b8b50d&vxp=mtr

It doesn't look like a short track tank ? The top front where the scoops mount are square and the short track tank is NOT square , it is angled.

that's half a short track tank kit .It has the wrong radiator brackets, missing 1 shroud the other is broke ,missing the hoses ,missing the red tabs for the radiator brackets and the tank has been painted. There is no way in hell someone bid 600 for that .

I saw this a few days ago and went right past it. Didn't even think twice about it. I find them pointless. The machine will go just as fast with 2.5 gallons of gas as it will with 1 gallon strapped to the frame. LOL. I see them as a gimmick to get people to waste money.

The tank is relocated further back, along with the radiators, so you can get a tighter turning radius. Hence the term, " short track tank "

They Are Cool Tanks,

If you need a relocated tank to make a tight corner. You're not riding right! Anyone should be able to slide around a corner with ease on a trike.

But let me ask you this. Wouldn't you have to chop the steering stops. Seeing as it's the stops that control steering radius. Not the tank. Otherwise everyone would have severely dented tanks.

Check out the extensive work put into these 200X's back in the day Uber. 2 1/2 days of cutting and welding the gas tanks alone... The frames were then stripped down, cut into pieces and welded back together.. ALL ,,to get the lock to lock steering and desired handling you see. When racing at speed on closed courses. You back the rear end in first. Hence,,your steering stops hit immediately on a stock bike. You then spin out /and or flip and usually break your collarbone . When racing, that doesn't cut it ! That's what all the hubbub is about st kits. They are a HUGE part of our racing history. Fairly hard to come by,and just downright neat as heck :)

I had a valid question. No need to hate.I didn't see it as much of a question, but more of an asinine statement about a subject you clearly know zero about.

Merry Christmas btw.

No hate words here involved. If you race flat track or ice race, it's an absolute must. I have raced both. The first time you are at the end of the bikes capability, you will wish you had the kit. It's the difference between absolute disaster and a smooth corner. The trick is to ride it that way between each turn. That is what the kit was made for. Those who ride their R correctly know the difference.
