Anyone know what the fork oil capacity is for an 85 225dx? I've heard some manuals are saying 4 fl ozs or 118mL and others saying 400mL

I just picked one up yesterday.

I need to put fluid in my front forks too.

Go to page 64, Chapter 3, Table 6.

225DX takes 117cc (3.96oz) for the front fork oil capacity.

my caps were stuck after getting the circlips out so i just drilled into them almost completely hollowing them out and then just tapped the fork with a rubber mallet, shot right out. The caps aren't that expensive to replace either, mine were $18 each at my local shop

In the manual, it has 2 different measurements; oil capacity and oil level, which one do you use when measuring out new oil to put in ?

If you take a 2nd look you will notice that they are the same.
Just different measurements. One in cc,.. the other in ml or something like that.
In other words,.. they are the same.

I agree with this.
Drill it, tap it to crack it,... then replace.

Go to this post. It is post #100 http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/154675-My-225DR/page7 My way MIGHT work if they arent too bad, but if they are really bad you'll have to drill. Go to this post http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/89417-Yamaha-YTM-Front-Shock-Disassembly-How-To

Have fun.
