Here is a link to a web site that has parts and from the looks it is not but not sure looks like a replaceable shock. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/ATV/1984/ATC200ES+A/FRONT+SHOCK+ABSORBER/parts.html

If the shocks themselves are bad then no, they are a sealed unit, they look a lot like the size of a car hood lift shock. You can tear them apart, clean them up, and if the springs are bad you can try to replace them but the shocks and springs of the 200ES are no longer available new. The last one i tore apart the shocks were fine but the springs were broke.

On my '84 200es - when the front brake is applied and you try to move the trike forward by hand - I have a minor bit of play (movement - top of shock - by the boot area) which can be seen in the right side shock. Left shock is good - no movement. Any thoughts ??? Thanks

You have to pull the front axle and wheel, then pull the shock boots down from the top and remove the bolt holding the top end of the shock then the whole works comes apart. The bottom end of the shock is held by the nut on the bottom end. The problem is finding replacement shocks. A lot of guys have converted to 200M front ends for a better ride. Its not a simple swap and bolt on job though, some mods are needed.

Take it apart and see whats bad is all you can do.

kbOnly - that sounds like a good plan. I have a pair of new Honda OEM front fork boots to install so in the process I will check into the play in the shock. If the shock is bad I will have to try and find a used salvageable assembly (somewhere ???). Just have to wait until this cold weather passes. BK3
