Hey guys, I had something put a hole in the bottom of my sub-transmission from the inside out! So ofcourse I pull it a part and there is this little metal part just
sitting in the bottom of the case. I say sitting there because I can not figure out where it goes or even what it is.
I looked at the diagram and could not match it to another part. Any help would be great guys, thanks!
here is the bottom of the case with the hole

Here is the metal found in the bottom of the case, it was dangling from the hole when the oil started leaking.

So I think it is the Reverse stopper lever, I found an entire case with gears on ebay for 60, So I bought it.

Hi,
Maybe when people get home from work?
Lots are out of power too.
I've had a few of those but it's been so long I can't remember.
What did it do or not do?
Is it new to you?
Did it ever run right that you know of?
Sounds like you know more than I do for sure but wanted to keep the thread active.
GREAT post btw.
Most would simply say my trike is leaking...what do you think it is.
try clicking on:
service manual
and also
the search key for 'sub trans' or similar should get you every post ever written in one fell swoop.

All i can see is two pictures, the third one isn't loading. In the second pic it just looks like the whole bottom of the case is slathered with JB Weld, so maybe it was just a chunk of that crap... LOL

Well we thought the hole came from the case hitting a rock, so we made a metal patch and JBwelded it on. It ran great then next thing I know its leaking again, I look down there and there is a piece of metal sticking out of the bottom. So thats when I took it apart and found that metal just hanging around in the bottom.

Ok now that the third picture is loading for me on the computer...
The broken pieces are the reverse stopper lever. Go to the sub transmission section of the service manual and you will see in the dissasembly procedure where it should be. Has a spring on it and a bolt holding it to the boss.

Well thats what I thought it was, so thanks for seconding my thoughts. I downloaded the manual and as soon as I get the new sub transmission in and case, I just hope it all goes back together ok! (fingers crossed)

Looking at your pictures it doesnt appear anything else is damaged so it should! Weird that stopper got shattered like that, must have got shifted hard between forward and reverse.
