Hey guys..here's some pics of a bike that's for sale at the shop where I have all my work done..all I know is, it's a Kawasaki Tecate..I'm not sure what year it is or if the color is even correct although I have seen red Tecates before..it looks like it might've even been a racer at one point..if you guys could let me know any info about it or any aftermarket parts you see on it I'd greatly appreciate it..the guy's only asking $300 but I'm sure he'd take less..I think it even runs..a customer brought it in to have the kick start fixed 3 years ago and never came back for it....the owner of the shop says as long as he gets enough to cover the kick start bill it's sold..lemme know what you think..Thanks!!!

It has a drum front brake so front end is 84 T3..
I think that has a DG pipe, a westcoast tecate swingarm, looks like a honda style rear works shock at a weird angle. The grasshopper has a drag shock positioned similar to that.

id be all over it for that price!!

I thought the same thing.

That bike is a steal!! Especially if it runs!

Where are you located in California? I am in Nor Cal (between Sac and Oregon). That is definitely worth shelling gout $300 for. Hell if you don't want it where is it, I'll go grab it?

I've been looking at all types of different swingarms for Tecate's and I haven't found one that is identical to that one yet..if it is a Westcoast, they must have added a hinge at the back of the arm or something where the shock connects to it..I havn't found another Tecate with a shock setup similar to that one either..

If I lived close I would be on my way, cash in hand. $300 is a deal.

Id love to see better pict of the top shock mount..
the bottom looks like an alum adaptor to make the honda mount fit a kawi shock.. definitely a cool trike!

That looks like it might be a 200x or 350x shock with the matching bottom mount that bolts to the swingarm. Crazy

Thanks for the info guys..so the guy said $250 will take it, which means he'll most likely take $200...here's some more pics..lemme know if u guys see anything else interesting..still have no idea what kind of swingarm it is..the right side says "HESS BRO'S" but I've never heard of them..they say it runs but couldn't get it started..it's jimmy rigged pretty good..the coolant overflow was going into a mountain dew bottle..is the red gas tank normal for that year or is that aftermarket/rare? I know I've seen em with red tanks before..and is the front drum brake rare? I saw an aftermarket/rare tecate parts thread where a guy said he had the "rare" front drum brake on his..

Wow! Seriously you guy"s down in the states sure have access to some smoking hot deals on 3 wheelers. Up here in Canada, they are extremely rare and when put up for sale, the seller demand STEEP prices
regardless if it runs or not..............

For humour sake, some of you should check out kijiji.ca atc250r's selling for $4000.00 and up

Wow. That thing has money pit written all over it. Still hard to pass up but it needs everything...

The rear suspension is interesting. Shock mounted to the upper link, which looks like it's welded to the frame???

Red tank is normal. They came red or green from Kawasaki in 84 and 85. I have one of each right now (red and green 85s) + an extra red tank. Might even have an extra green tank. And some front fenders. My Tecate thing got out of hand last year...

The 84/85s did not come with an overflow bottle - the overflow from the rad just dumped to the ground.

I like the 200X fender/seat on it. The fenders on my red one are crap.

I would have to agree with the money pit thing..I'd love to have a Tecate but by the time I was done fixing everything on the bike I probably could've bought one in mint condition off ebay

Don't give up on it too fast. As long as you jump into it with your eyes open, projects like that are fun. Just not as cheap as they look at the start.

Man o man. Your right about american prices. Id pay 1000$ for that. Hell ive been offered quite a bit of money for my Franks swing arm off mine. And here im way up in Canada. Ive bought every Tecate 3 That was for sale in my Province in the last 14 years. And only found 2 1/2.

I don't even understand the questions, I'd be like, who can tell me more about what I just bought? Lol. At that price you cannot go wrong. If nothing else hose it off and resell it on Craigslist for double or more or part it on eBay.
