Back in 1985 a farmer friend of mine bought a shiny new Big Red 250es. When he did not need it for the farm I rode it through the fields. He passed several years ago and the atc sat by itself and came to near ruin. I had moved away from the area. Over Christmas my son was talking to the widow (92 years young) and he asked her if he could have the big red. She said yes and it came home with my son and me. Guess who will end up turning the wrenches? I am starting with a top end rebuild and will go from there. I have already found helpful information on the forum. When finished maybe I'll let my son ride it.

Sounds like a good deal to me. How much work does it need? Is is in decent shape cosmetically. Not that it matters since you got it for free - just wonderin. Anyways, as mentioned, post up some pics!

Will try to get some pics soon. Right now the engine is out of frame and the cylinder and head at the machine shop waiting for a .50 mm oversize piston. Its not much to look at. One of the fenders is cracked and the tires are dry rotted. The gas tank is leaking at the bottom corners. What kind of money pit have I gotten into?
