Tis is true, Is Very Rare, IIRC the Gold Carts are more rare then the grey ones, or maybe it's the other way around? Been a while since i seen the AVGN/Pat the NES Punk Video about it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs2wczJXETM

Edit: After Watching the Video, the Gold are More Rare then the Greys, but the Greys are still Rare!

WOW I can't believe that! If I found out I had one, I would soon have enough trikes for the trikes to ride trikes

Good Lord.

At first I thought it was the dudes buy it now, then I saw the bids.....

I wish my old NES games were rare lol. I have quite a few, plus a rare NES controller. Well, perhaps it's not all that rare. It's the NES advantage controller. Just amazes me what these old video games are bringing these days. I still have my old Atari 2600 from 1979. Still works....but I doubt it's worth crap. Mainly because I own it and I never get that lucky

Not an uncommon sight to see the gold cartridge at a ridiculous price. Last one I saw went in the 50-60 grand range. I wish I had one! I don't ever see me owning one lol. I only want something that's fun to play haha!

As a hobby collecting rare items brings in a lot of $$$$, I used to be in the buying and selling of arcade machines just for fun. It turned out to be very profitable at times, I owned some items that I had no idea were valuable until I decided to sell them off and move on to something else.

The big dollar games were the Neo Geo games, the home console games went between a few hundred up to 19,000 dollars. So to some people paying 400 on up for some items is really not too crazy. But that game and price are beyond my budget for sure.

This is a prime example of something being worth as much as someone is willing to spend. Kinda crazy to knock it IMHO. Just take a look a t what some of us spend on trikes and rare parts. Its all relative as far as I'm concerned.

Thats one reason why i still have all of my SNES games from my early days i still have the original box for it somewhere :wondering. Who remembers Mario Paint? lol. ill tell ya it was the was one of the first video games i ever played (if ya can even call it a game... Since all you would do was use it to paint random stuff), and the only reason why i even had it was because it came as a bundle with my SNES system. Super Mario world was the greatest for SNES tho lol. Another great one was True lies for SNES, yea true lies with Arnold and Jamie lee curtis  Never could get past the 4th level but boy was that another fun game.

Someone already updated the Wikipedia page that talks about this game, discussing today's sale.

I just wonder if that was a real deal auction. That's just astronomical money for a cart that has a torn label to boot. Crazy.

Well said.........50 bucks for an old atc sticker?? 500.00 for a set of riding pants?? 60.00 for a ballcap?? Thousands for plastic oem fenders??? It is all relative. And I have many of the previous items listed....lol:lol::lol: I am guilty as charged...

An ultra rare gold copy has made it's way out of the woodwork, this one ends in about 30 minutes and bidding is just north of $100K. I am impressed:

Game nerd, here. Seriously guys, Just so everyone knows, this kinda stuff doesn't make all of your games worth a million. Only certain games pull the kinda money you're seeing here and condition and current availability play a large part of it. Sometimes people with deep pockets just say whatever, I want it and don't care what it's going to cost. Other times you only have cheapskates bidding. No different that the trike hobby.

It's really frustrating when people see these kind of sales and then assume what they have is worth money. People don't realize how many copies of common games are out there. There are so many copies of the original NES Super Mario Bros out there that someone was building a large statue out of them and there are still plenty out there. The number of games that are actually rare are very low. Region really plays a large part too, there are lost of certain games on the west coast but they may be harder to find on the east coast. It's all relative.

I'm sure someone will ask why I say I'm a game nerd, here's a pic of about a quarter of my collection.

NES shelf, 500+ carts.

Nice Louis!! Some people with deep pockets just WANT this game BADLY to add to a collection. Money is nothing to some people.

I hope they can insure it......

I had a bunch of those and gold ones in a box with a fully working NES at my grandmas...I'm almost positive I had a gold version of that in there...I think they got rid of it but not sure...I'll have to look now...

Zelda was a gold cartridge and was common. I could see that being there. I do know there are more but not off the top of my head.
