Who has install Lifan Engans in their honda 200x? How did it work out?

Since you don't have one yet, keep in mind to look for an 83-85 200x.
The 200 Lifan is a bolt in, in every model. There are pushrod versions, OHC versions(which are easily identified by the valve adjustment caps), 5 speeds, and 4 speeds with reverse. As far as I know they are all electric start.

You had mentioned that you have a Chinese dirt bike, post pics please.

One issue is that the kicker rolls counterclockwise on the bike motors and the lever can hit the fender. I have no issue with this, as I just removed the lever and put it in my tool kit. If the starter should ever fail, I will just pull the fenders and install the kicker real quick. The starters are cheap and easy to replace.

A huge benefit is the electrical system. Instead of unregulated AC power which allows the lights that it can barely run to dim and flicker and pop all the time, it uses regulated 12vdc. The lights remain very steady at all times, and they last way longer. Be sure to replace the bulbs with DC units.

Need close ups of the dirt bike engine, and if you can, a serial number, or it might have the cc cast into the jug. Thanks

I hadn't seen the Gio model before, I don't know if we can get it in the u.s.:wondering

The engines I see so far look very similar in mounting dimensions to the Lifan I have. Looking forward to the pics.

I've done it and it was awesome. Mine was a pushrod 200cc version. Ran great and the e-start was great.

I couldn't find series numbers or cc's but here are the pictures

It would be nice to have closer pics, from down low so I can see the top engine mount. Or take the tank off and get a closeup.

That looks like a pretty nice bike to be dismantling.

It looks like that one is OHC, and if it doesn't fit an 83-85 200x, I'll be curious as to what else it fits.

I found out that it is a Zhongshen Engine (Honda knock off) and here are some pictures. Any idea what this will fit?185137185138

Actually, what you have there are two different engines, one is ohc the other is pushrod

If you show the top end mount on your engine I can tell you whether it will fit as well. If its actually a 250cc, and it fits the 200x, you are going to be one happy guy.

After doing some research, I found that the zs165fmm is a replacement for the cb250 thumper, and I do not know if it will fit a 200x.

The pushrod version you posted will fit.

Judging by the engine mounts, the zs165fmm looks close, but we need engine mount point measurements, can you get those? If you can, I have bare x frames and engines here to compare.

Wouldnt it be cool if we found a new engine swap option! Its a 223cc engine.

I'll see what I can get for measurements and pictures tomorrow.

When I was looking for a engine for our Steens Taco I read that Lifan made the Honda GX line of motors and subsequently came out with their own line called Predators (Harbor Frieght).
Same factory.

It may be this engine. Found this info on line http://www.crossfiremotorcycles.com/parts-and-accessories/petrol-engines/zongshen-250cc-engine-4t.html They sell the engines for $660 and they claim is a direct replacement for 200cc pushrod style engines for Chinese dirt bikes.

OK great! That's actually a 233cc engine (69mm bore, 62.2mm stroke), that appears to be exactly the same dimensions as the Lifan, and the X!!

Considering what we have to go on here, I would not hesitate to attempt the swap. A 233cc engine will power a 200x quite nicely.

Wow, it kinda looks like the 243cc water cooled engine they offer would fit too.....lots of thinking going on here now......

The rear shock on the dirt bike looks very similar to the 200x shock as well. You can find pictures on the gio bikes website.
Got me thinking about it as well. Just need to find the right 200 x.

Got me thinking about it as well. Just need to find the right 200 x. The gio bikes are common here in Alberta with several dealers I purchased the new bike in 2011 online for $750.00, my wife only used it twice, it was too tall for her.

The water cooled engine is putting out 26hp. I would really love a 26hp water cooled X. I have to find out if it will fit.

$750? For the whole bike???? Wow!!

The dealers sell for more but it's not too hard too pick up a good used bike in that range. The water cooled bike run a bit more. The gio bike site sells carburetors for a very good price as well. Gives a person some options

See shock photo. Do you know length of honda rear shock?

DohcBikes

12" eye to eye

1-1/8" space clevis side, 1-18" wide top bushing.

As far as the engine goes, hopefully its not a bolt in for the cr250f. But my interpretation is that it replaces a Lifan 200, if that's the case then you're in business.

Definitely, because if it does I want some of those engines.

Bringing up an old thread here. Does anyone know if this would work on 83 200x.

I know for a fact that this swap works. I picked up a gio 250 for cheep and had a 200x roller in the shop. It didn't take me long to realize that it looked identical. It is actually based off the honda crf230 motor which is still based off the original 200X motor. Easiest swap ever. I even managed to use the entire exaust system from the gio. Mounted the battery in the air box too. Power wise I didn't really notice much difference but it was still fun to throw together.
