I'm possibly thinking about putting a 200s front fork on to help with the ride. I'm just looking for some input on is it worth it or not.

Hi,
I know it sounds like a good idea but not sure if they even work.
Prettys ure they are just springs and not real hydraulics?
Funny, I have some of each and really can't tell any difference
but never really checked / challenged the travel. Mine might be rusted solid anyway.
Something else about 'rebuild' parts being hard to find but that may be for the 84 bigred,
a similar design.

Try the search key.
It should give you tons of info in one click.

I think it would work. I think the triple tree accepts everything if you are going from a rigid fork to one with springs in it.

That's what I figured. but the spring, telescoping front forks, say, on the 200s
or 200 es don't really seem to do much.
I know it sounds like a good idea, but you'll have to find ones that actually DO something or are repairable, IF parts are avail.
Did you get the search key to work?

200s/e/es might not compare to the travel of 250r shocks or similar models but its better than absolutely nothing like on the ATC200's. A 200s front end paired with a good OEM style tire will greatly improve the ride. It comes down to if you want to put the money and work into it. If he can get a cheap set, i say go for it.

I agree with ghost a good tire goes a long way when it comes to comfort on an atc

I put a 84 200es front fork on my 82 185s. I worked like a charm. If I remember right I think I had to use the 185s handle bars though. Made a huge difference having front suspension. Plus mine had a factory honda speedo on it which was pretty cool. Yes the tire, rim and bolt pattern are all different so you cant use you original tire or rim. I really didnt mind having the front end sitting up a little though. It made it a little more stable when hitting bumps at higher speeds. Ill see if I can dig up a pic for ya.

I put an 83 set of forks on my 82. Worked great and it did help. Im glad I did it. The 200s forks are smaller to fit a 22" tire/ 8" wheel. Either way you will have to swap forks, hub, wheel, axle, and fender. Even for an 81 - 83 swap. The 84-85 200m forks are the same as the 83 200 as well.
