Do I need wet clutch motorcycle oil? Or will any old motor oil do? I bought gtx 10w40 motor oil.

Wet clutch safe oil is best. I use Valvoline ATV 10w-40.

I second that. Valvoline ATV (or Motorcycle) 10W40. I'm a fan of the Valvoline ATV oil. It is commonly available, not too expensive, and is meant for our application. Really, just about any auto oil will work, but the specialty oils offer additives that benefit our motors (cams, clutches, etc).

Be prepared for an onslaught of posts. Oil preference is one of the hot button topics.

personally I use Valvoline ATV or motorcycle oils most of the time, sometimes some rotella

From what I understand anything that it not "energy conserving" should work fine with a wet clutch.

I use rotella triple protection. I agree that Valvoline ATV is an excellent choice as well:)

Well i bought the Valvoline motorcycle oil with wet clutch protection, and it seems to be doing the trick just fine :)

It's super cheap to (6$ a quart) compared to the full synthetic motorex i use in my 450 (20$ a quart) Haha

I ran Castrol GTX 10W-40 for years without issue, then recently my local hardware store started stocking Valvoline ATV 10W-40 so i started using that, i don't really see any clutch performance difference in riding but hey i can get it for about the same price as the GTX, a little cheaper actually, so why not!

With the large influx of ATV riders here now, due to the city permitting, the stores are starting to tailor to them with ATV products and supplies. Its been a good money maker for everyone. Still kind of funny to go to the store on a summer day and see quads lined up in the parking spots, and me in the middle on my 200ES... LOL
