anyone else seen one of these yet? did not know they existed until a few days ago. $4.5 million, super limited production like the Ferarri Enzo was. Absolutely beautiful. does not even look real. love the wing with the center support. Idle sounds about 3000 rpm. interior resembles a futuristic space ship.

The future is here. I know paddle shifters are the standard for a car of this caliber, but I think I'd like a stick. Then again, I've never driven a super car.

Looks like it would be difficult to wax.

Overrated. I'll take good ol American iron any day over that thing.

I think its ugly but I have had my fill of over engineered European sports cars. It cost like ten grand to change the oil on a everyday lambo. I don't even want know what it cost on this one.

I like exotic super cars but this thing is ugly.

you will never understand until you hear that motor really doing its thing. 100 mph in 3rd gear. i used to work as a valet captain at a night club. Regular customer of mine had too much to drink on a few occasions and would have me drive him home in his Gallardo. a real hoot when we're scootin down the 163 at 100mph with he and his lady in the (single) passenger seat. sent me back to my car in his 7 series bmw... "ya, just park it in the garage and leave the key on the tire, it'll be fine. ill find it tomorrow." what a nut.

ever been inside a Veyron? Mulsanne? Murcielago? Phantom? Ghost? SLS? Spyker? my o my, the memories...

It's apples and oranges comparing European super cars with American muscle, save for the Ford GT. I always had a similar point of view, never really cared much for European cars. Then I watched the entire Top Gear UK series and educated myself. Those boys beat vehicles relentlessly just the way I would and very much unlike most of the owners of those cars ever will. I wouldn't own one either, but I certainly can appreciate them.

I do not hate the American top gear but I am a much bigger fan of the European version that has been around since the early 90's. by the way new episodes start Monday on bbc America.

but lets be serious, if you won the lottery tomorrow and had a few hundred million to burn, agreed there are a few American cars I would buy right away (a real cobra, hemi charger daytona, LS6 chevelle, judge) but you all know you would own a few European cars.

seriously who didn't have an F40 or Countach/ Diablo poster or model on the wall in the 80's and 90's

Granted I have always been a much bigger McLaren fan and would buy F1 and MP412C before anything.

speaking of which, anyone see the top gear episode where they put the Veyron against the McLaren F1 on a road outside of Dubai. F1 is 15 years older and left the Veyron at the line until about the 1/8 mile. loved it

but I like this lambo because it is so ridiculous in styling and engineering. you have to either love it or hate it. I hope it is on top gear this season so I can see how it compares to everything else performance wise.

I would never have a F40 or Countach poster, then or now. There have been so many other great cars. Early Ferrari or Porsche has my vote. The cars may be faster, but nothing compares to a RSk550 or a daytona coupe or a California coupe. Real beauty and personality and the worlds sexiest compound curves.

I always thought the lambos where mostly a "hey look at me car". They are engineered well obviously, but they go out of their way to make the car look intense with all its angles and weird geometry. It's a form over function thing.

For example, though sharp angles makes a car look sexy and fast, in actuality they are bad for aero dynamics and do more harm that good at top speed. Look a a Bugatti Veyron, it's smooth. Just like an airliner.

Ferrari is the super car maker I appreciate most because they think of engineering first, then they work style around the components after.

The new spoiler on this lambo also just looks way excessive and over the top, but that is their signature.

certainly cannot disagree with you at all there veal. those are some absolutely beautiful cars you mention there. however, as you said, they were not as good performers. they were all getting their butt kicked by Shelby on the track at that time. those cars are like a fine wine, but when you need something stupid fast to cure that itch, those just won't do.

If you have the money...just get a Veyron, a McLaren F1, a Konegsieg CCX, Enzo, Gallardo, DB9 (My personal favorite...will own one of these one day), Aerial Atom, (these are awesome also), and a Viper, and a Corvette, and a GT40, and a GT500

OK. OK. You got me. I did love the McLaren F1 back in the day. Poster on the wall, and a Maisto Die-cast model on the shelf.

Only 5 in the entire world... Hard not to have feelings for that car.

Anyone who has ever had to replace a clutch on one might disagree with you. I hear the new stuff is much better, but the few people I've ever spoken to who have owned exotics have mentioned that there was a time you had to be followed by a tow truck if you went for a ride in one.

I looked into buying an older Ferrari a while back, just a little 348.

That dream was crushed when I found out that regular maintenance runs about 3 grand a year, and if some thing as simple as the water pump fails, the whole engine has to come out......$6-$8000 job.

Mythbusters got the best gas milage out of a rounded econobox covered in dimples, like 3 or 4" diameter, like a golf ball. Talk about hard to wax!

I'd get more use out of the golf cart.
Fascinating engineering, for sure.
Did the first car avoid the speed bump?
and did he have to stick his body out of the car to see to back out?

They said something about that on 'counts customs' on discovery channel.

I agree, most of us would need a Jay Leno garage to get the hood open and
a paid crew to work on them.
I've watched a few get built (factory made sci channel) and most engines
look like they go in from the bottom with little sympathy for what you can see with the hood open.
SAAB built their cars with 5 person teams on flat floors. easiest cars to work on for that reason. Maybe why they went out of biz too.
