So I am helping my cousin with a build. He had a 200x, bought a kx500 engine (with frame) and right now we are trying to figure out the axle situation.
We would like to add an extended axle, but only have the option of the durablue 200x axle. and our budget is about $500.
I would like to know what needs to be done to modernize the rear to accept like 400ex axles or such. Do they line up? Basically we are lost at that point.
And now a little bit of the project.

I'd suggest considering if using an entire 400EX swing arm might work for you, or cut the back of one off and graft it to whatever the front of your swing arm is.

That is what i was thinking was the best option.

I second the idea of using a swingarm that goes with whatever axle you choose. Cool looking project, the kx500 is a beast.
On a side note....Possible CHUPACABRA sighting in picture three:shiftyeyes:

400EX is an aluminum swingarm. I'd go with a Ford 9 inch putting a KX500 in a 200X...You're on the right track. But build it from the swingarm bolt ahead. Measure and see what quad,,400EX, Z400,Raptor, 450R etc, lines up best chainwise. And get a complete rear. Good luck on that budget though. You want this to be safe if nothing else!

Are you guys looking at the pics before you post??? He's not using the 200x frame. I'm not sure why he didn't use the kawi neck but I'll be watching to see.

cool project, the swing arm grafting idea might be a solid bet. The welds on the kneck look legit, have a go at that swing arm next

I would start with a kxt500 swingarm, since that's what frame you have, and graft a trike carrier and axle to that.
Just because he may not be able to weld aluminum(which is easy) doesn't mean he should not consider it. Any welding shop would be happy to weld his pieces up, cheap.
The welds so far look good.

Good point. I had looked at the pics but I had a brain fart when making my suggestion.

Hey no problem and to be honest I was more referring to some of the other suggestions.
Djflip you got a heII of a project ahead of you there, but you already started so GET IT DONE!! Don't let anyone tell you it won't work because it will if you keep at it.
As far as the budget goes...it can be done but it won't be easy. You might break a swingarm before you find one that works.
Do you have the kxt500 swinger? If so, can we get some detailed pics? I'm excited about this thing.
Still not convinced that isn't a chupacabra.
