Hey fellow riders I am wondering about heated hand grips for my 85 250es and the 84 ytm 200e.my question is will the bikes be able to handle running them?the grips are from a company called ignition.here is a pic thx mat

Understand that your 250ES alternator creates 200W (approx. 16amps) at 5000rpm.

Since the last set of heated grips I bought said they needed 30-35watts(approx. 3 amps) you should be good.

Sorry don't know the specs on the power output for the Yamaha..you'll have to look that one up or maybe someone else knows.

Check with the supplier for the specifications on that set to be safe..

Ok that's great info for the Honda thx.anyone else know about the 84 ytm 200e if it will handle them thx

200w - 45w Headlight - 5w Taillight = 150w useable while running the lights. Anything else you have running further reduces the available power to run them.

Although i would allow a little more to make sure the battery stays charged, say another 24-36w (2-3 amps)... So you should easily have 100w to run accessories, a good 8-10 amps at most. If the heated hand grips are under that then you should be safe.
