Hey Guys and Gals, I'm working on getting this 1985 ATC 70 on the road. It has a 110cc Honda motor in it (not sure if it came from an ATC or what), and it appears that my throttle cable might be took long. I pulled the cable from the carb to make sure it was seated right, and checked the connection at the throttle lever, and there is just too much play. When I start it, the bike just revs up like the throttle is stuck. there are no adjustment screws on the cable or anything, and the throttle lever just moves freely. Any ideas on a fix?

Thank you
Justin

Is there an adjuster on top of the carb slide? You'll likely have to pull back the rubber boot to expose it if there is.

Also, when I replaced the carb on my 200s with a Chinese one, I had to modify the cap on the carb slide to accept the throttle cable adjuster from my stock carb in order to properly adjust the cable.

well, thats whats weird. there is an adjuster on top of the carb slide, on the cable, for the cable, but it's not screwed onto the carb slide or the cable. anything, and there's no threading on the brass tube coming up. it's obvious this cable doesn't go to this carb. so there is absolutely no way of adjusting the throttle cable. give me a sec and i'll post a pic.

Well, here's a pic of the throttle cable. i managed to rig it to where it'll work, but now the thing wont stay running? should i start another thread for that issue or use this one?

Here's where the cable goes into the slide chamber. you can see the adjustment screw is just chillen and there is no where to thread the adjuster onto. it's basically acting as a spacer. i managed to rig it to where the cable tube doesn't go into the adjuster all the way and that kind of takes up most of the slack.

here's the upper portion of the cable. there is no adjuster on this entire cable except for by the slide chamber, and it doesn't even do anything. should i order another cable?
