Had surgery today to repair my abdominal/belly button hernia which was larger than the doctor expected; However, he was able to get some mesh in there to begin the healing process.
No lifting of anymore than 20lbs for 3-4 weeks then I need to work on my core strength (any advice in that area will be requested at that time) so I can get strong again. And lose the 20lbs I gained since October 5th
So, I'm OK and hopefully I can get back in the shop after that as the other job is running better (knock on wood).
Anyhow, I'll update this in a few weeks because I can't do much for awhile.

Take it real easy on that wound. Don't do anything stupid until the Doc says you are ready. Get well soon!:beer

For sure take it very easy! My wife had that surgery with the mesh. Something went very bad! The wound got infected. I don't have enough time to tell you all the problems she had. But she was out doing things too soon! So again lay low.

i saw that thing when they were backboarding you at jericho. it looked like the diner scene from Alien. it was something that absolutly needed to be taken care of, and you'll feel better/be healthier with it done. it sucks that youre hurting now, but youre on the comeback trail now. take things slow and easy buddy. going too fast now will make everything worse.

Once you're healed back up, try Yoga. Yes, I said Yoga. It's excellent for your core and just a great basic all around exercise, especially if you haven't exercised in a long time like recovering from surgery or injuries. It's also great for flexibility. I used to think that Yoga was for limp wristers, metrosexuals, and sissies. Then I got a taste of it doing P90X and experimented with it thru some tapes at home. If anybody gives you shlt about it have them come and try out some of the exercises.
One of the guys from work was in a pretty bad accident last fall, somebody rear ended his car doing 60mph. He ended up with 2 or 3 fractured discs in his back. After he healed for a bit they started him on his therapy: Yoga

I'm guessing when the Doc releases you he will either send you to rehab , or give you instruction on what to do at home , or both . Good luck .

I wish a speedy recovery for you steve. I also hope that the beer belly mesh is better than the vaginal mesh I keep hearing about lol.
