Hello - in regards to Honda 250R ATCs' - which year is the most desirable year to have and why??? Is one year more powerful or a better ride than another??? They are such a beautiful looking trike. I do want one badly. Thanks in advance for your opinions. BK3

The 85 and 86 both have a 34 keihin the 85 has a round slide 86 has a flat slide. Also the engine on the 86 is painted its silver instead of black. All the 250rs are great .I have a 81,83. and 85.The later models have better suspension, six speed tranny, liquid cooling. But I love each one the same.

Hello jchale - I am just a little west of you in Regina, Sask.

I found a '85 250R advertised and located in Winnipeg - maybe this is the one you just bought???

imo the 85', 86' and 87's are all far superior to the pre 85 models in every category.

86, I would say. I own an 84, and an 86. The suspension on the 84 feels heavy when its worn out for a 170 pound rider. The 86 liquid is a very smooth ride suspension wise, and power wise. Gearing on the trikes is a big issue when you compare them, My 86 feels gutless compared to my 84. Same tires and gearing i believe. Although the 86 will kill the 84 on a track and in a drag race.

Actually bought mine out of Edmonton, AB. Should be here this week. I'm like a little kid excited to see his new bmx......... I actually bought some parts off a dude in Hudson SK. Chrome axle, elka rear shock, chrome shock linkage and a clean caliper.

Imo you can't go wrong with a 85 or 86. They updated a lot of things on the 86 and they share rear ends with the 86-87 Trx so parts are easier to find. A lot of 85 parts one year only and are a little more difficult to find.

Hello bkm - Thanks for the heads up. I think I will lean towards a 85 or 86. One year only parts - I already know about those. I restored and own a 1968 Corvette that has many one year only parts. Finding OEM 68 Vette parts is a PITA and very expensive when you do find them. Regards. BK3
