Had this project on the back burner for awhile. Since I have been unable to ride, i have been spending some time under the helmet(welding), honing my skills just stacking beads, and more beads. Playing with a few different size 7018's, and some 6010 doin some whip and pause for fun. Lots of different amperages, and techniques. Then I started laying some flux core beads, and said what the hey, lets finish the saw stand!! Design has changed a bunch. Lots of fab time getting it plum and level, shims here and there. This was my final design. I welded it up with stick on the saw holder, and the flux core for the table legs didnt feel like changing the spool and hooking up the gas. the settings on the lincoln are not infinate, so you get what you get. High setting was just alittle hot for the 1" sqare stock, but the next lower setting was just slightly cold, so I just used the hotter setting. came out Alright! 4 screws hold the table down, remove them and the saw comes right out! no mods to the saw other than removing the guide and mounting a spacer to shim up the table.

that odd looking thing is the head for my tire removing tool. the old crappy surface welds I laid on it a few years ago let loose on a stubborn tire lol! I now know what a burned in weld looks like! surprised it held up as long as it did!

yeah Jay, older model deep cut! Just put a hot lookin coat of RED on it, looks sweet, get a few pics up later. got to dress up a few edges with some moulding, and some padding where the saw rests! If any of you own one of these type saws and may be interested in making one I will gladly share the dimensions/plans!

gonna rig up a switch to the frame tomorow, still want to be able to unplug the saw and remove for regular use. probably put a short cord off the saw plugged into a switched recepticle mounted to the frame somewhere. was also gonna add some feet, but as it sits its rock solid with no wobble, so we shall see!

Very nice!Very handy!I keep saying one of these days.Still fight with the vice though.Somebody makes a cool little portable band saw.It has a stand also it sets in.Never think about until I have to cut something.Your shop projects turn out very good!Very well thought out and well built.

Very nice work Bud.. just me lol... Are you SURE that fan is enough for all you have going on there? Welding fumes are NO joke. Just concerned :) :)

LOl Bill!! believe it or not, that fan is rediculously powerful!! They are german made fans from large elecrical equipment. I will have to get the specs, but they move some air!! I got about 8 of them lol. I was surprised, i get next to no smoke build up in the basement! Laying continuous 10-12 " beads with the 6010 seemed to be the smokiest, but even that was not bad. I am planning on a hood, and another fan mounted next to that one. should be awsome! Just havnt gotten to it!

Good to hear.. I've watched 1st hand to 2 people loosing a lot. One his ability to hold anything still from shaking. One ,her life. Both from welding .. Nothing to mess with.. back to regular programming. That is one GORGEOUS project !!

sorry to hear that man! Glad i dont do it for a living!! that would take the fun out of it lol! I do wear a good mask under the helmet, its not a respirator, but I know it filters some. Maybe I could build a downdraft table next!! lol, seriously though thanks for the props guys!!

yeah, I checked em out. I actually was gonna go the vise clamping plate route, and actually fabbed one up but never finished it because I just didnt like the idea of all the weight of the saw just hanging by a couple 10-24's! I was gonna hook up a sewing machine pedal, but I just ended up using a switched plug strip. I will post a pic up.
