A friend of mine has an 81 250r. (its possible its an 82, but I'm pretty sure its an 81) It sat outside for about 8 years, and he doesn't know any of the history on it. It turns over and the compression feels right. None of the cables are frozen up or rotted out to bad either. If I can get him to agree to sell it, how much do you think I should offer?:wondering

Whatever you buy it for, remember that you'll have to give it some TLC and that costs. I say get it! It will be worth it in the end!

Id say couple hundred. If it has rear drum brakes its an 81 .That one is an 82. I can see the air ducts behind the steering head 81 does not have them. Also 81 has kill switch on the throttle housing . And the front disc looks like it has the holes in it. 81 front disc is solid.

I agree with these guys... I would try to get it for about $100 but I would not pay more than about $300.

It may have alot that is still "right" with it, but I guarantee you will find plenty wrong with it you will need to address to make it mechanically solid.

Thanks for the help, hopefully I can talk to the guy today and get some general idea of what he wants for it. He also was considering paying me to get it running, but if he will sell it i am going to try to buy it.
