It's a kit if you got the piston too:lol: good score

So that is a 300r setup? What's it worth in unknown condition and possibly no piston

How about that gold bottle anyone know what it is

I bought a 300r head for $58 bucks of ebay
I also got a jug, burnt piston, and bad head for $157 off ebay a couple years back (seller did not disclose the topend was fried it came with a bottom end and the frame and swinger too because he couldn't get the swing arm bolt removed).

then so far one a 2nd over piston NOS for $78.50 and two different sets of oversize rings for about $30 each shipped.

I wouldn't spend over $200 without a piston for just the jug and head

Is everyone sure that's a 300 kit before I jump on it.

Boost bottles were big in the 80's. They were plummed into the intake. I'm not quite sure what the intended function was.

So I should try to buy the intake too

If it has 7 head bolts instead of 6 then it is likely a 300 kit Make sure the jug is also 7 bolts. The boost bottle was used to help pull fuel because with the air box lid on and the boost bottle gave it something to suck against. That was the same as the OEM boost bottle on a 88-89 TRX 250R. IMHO I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

Ok so it turn out it is a 7 bolt head and he supposably has a new piston for it. Not sure if it's correct size. He wants $150 plus shipping for the boost bottle, cylinder, head, and piston. Do I take the chance? Is it worth it.

YUP. a new piston alone, if you can find one, will be around $150-$200. pull that trigger

if the new piston is an OEM oversize, it will have the letters "ART" cast into the inside of the piston near the wrist pin holes. there are multiple companies modifying these cylinders to use TRX250R/330R big bore pistons, because of the difficulty of finding a NOS OEM piston and rings. If possible, have the seller measure the bore size, send pics of the bore's condition, with closeups of obvious damage, and send closeups of the new piston. that will give us a better idea of what you're lookin at

191314 191316 191317 191318 does look to be true. Don't think the piston has rings tho

honda3

He wants 230 shipped. I still think it's worth it. What's your opinion

manbearpig
04-15-2014, 03:12 PM
any reason it jumped from $150 to $230? shipping would be somewhere in the range of $40 :wondering

if you're pumped about it, then do it. if the day comes and you need to sell it, you will still be able to get your $ back out of it, so no real reason not to... aside from trying to find the piston rings.

honda3

Yah. He said he does t like shipping so for the hassle he raised the price to 230 shipped

The one picture of the piston skirt looks like it is broke? I will see if my piston is similar or not when I get back home from work.

Yup it is chipped

Nice score even at $230. It should be stamped on top of the piston what size overbore it is. If you search ebay type in atc 250r piston part #810 should bring up some pistons and rings.Last week when I check there where couple sets of stock 76 mill rings and a 25 over set. That chip shouldnt hurt anything just smooth it out.
