Just picked up a 84 200es. Sold my 200s for the upgrade. Super happy with my purchase. I do need to rebuild the front suspension but other then that she's a beauty.

Can't beat a 200ES... An all around workhorse and tough as nails machine. I do everything with mine.

Amen, brother. I love my '84 200es. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Just came in from a little ride with the old girl. Kinda forgot about the 200es since I have been devouting most of my time in detailing up the newly acquired '85 250R. The 200es fired up on the first pull. It wanted to go. Almost like your old faithful dog when you bring out the leash to go for a walk. Good times - we will go again tomorrow.

B1GBen67 - enjoy that beautiful 200es - nice upgrade. BK3

Do your best with the front end to clean it up, but don't expect much (depending on your starting point). My 200ES front forks were just junk. From the outside, they looked fine, but years of mud and debris builds up in there. The design of these forks is unique (I've not seen any others like it). The fork tubes are steel and are chrome plated where the sliders move. The sliders have a couple nylon bushings to ride on the chromed fork tubes. The entire system is dry. The shock absorber (damper) looks just like the lift struts on the trunk and hood of modern cars. All the dirt, mud, and grunge will basically destroy the front end of these.

I cleaned mine up the best I could, replaced the nylon bushings, bolted it all back together, and it was only marginally better. Don't sweat it though. You've already got a hard tail in the back...

Despite all this, I LOVE my 200ES.

Yea got it all cleaned out and it definitely made a difference. Squeaking real good now though. Can anyone suggest what to use to maybe lube 'em up so that doesn't happen?
