Hello All!
New to 3WW, but not to atc's or atv's. Currently restoring an '81 atc 70 that I've had for years. I'd love to go fully suspended on it, but will most likely go with suspended forks only. Contemplating an 88cc big bore kit, but a Pirahna 140 isn't out of the question... Lol Love these little bikes, can't wait to one day bring it to Glamis.

Looking for a four speed gear set for it, guess they are next to impossible to find used on ebay, don't want to spend the 150 for an AHP. Think I'm going to go with the 88cc big bore kit, sans the race head. A manual clutch conversion would be fun too I think. This project is going to get expensive quickly I think.. Haha

Yea I would go with the big bore because I think when you replace the honda motor. It ceases to be a honda because the engine is the heart of the bike.

^^^Really? So when you replace that piston and cylinder with an aftermarket big bore kit, is the engine still a honda?

Lots of Chevrolet Model T's running around these days then.

To use your heart transplant analogy, if "bill" needs a heart transplant, and "dave " is able to donate, then does Bill become Dave when the transplant is complete??

Is a Chevelle with a Merlin engine now a Merlin? nope, its just a faster chevy now.

Well the 351 Windsor in the pickup in my driveway must be Frankenstein because there's so many mix and matched parts on it

Lol, I'd bet none of the above mentioned cars/trucks have a Chinese made engine in them though... Heheh. I get what he meant by keeping it 'all Honda' and I tend to agree, despite the fact that the aftermarket kit will not be Honda OEM. I guess the way to go to achieve truly all Honda would be to stuff a 125m or a 185 in there haha!

Exactly what I ment I usually buy the honda part for everything unless it's not available. But you lagph about putting a 125m engine in a 70 but actuly I have seen it done and also considered doing it.

Not laughing about putting a 125m or 185 in a 70 at all! Just laughing because I've also seen it done, hell, Guys have stuffed twin cylinder two stroke BANSHEE engines in an ATC70!! Atc70's are awesome little bikes, it's the first bike I learned to ride on when I was a little guy. Now that I'm 40 and pushing 220 pounds, I've got to get this ill trike moving! Just ordered the 88cc big bore kit with race head and cam plus the 20mm carb today, should be here by next week:-) also opted for the high flow oil pump kit. Looking at converting it to a manual clutch too, don't want the little ones just jumping on this thing and taking off while were out camping...

that's what I learned to ride on too you should see the engine that they have on the hondaatc70 site they have a 175 cc engine with four valves. The thing is a beast.

Ordered the heavy duty auto clutch for my 70 today, apparently the manual clutch conversion kit is no longer carried by Spanglers... Really contemplating getting the AHP four speed trans while I have the cases split for polishing and powder coating... Damn this project is getting more expensive by the day! Haha
