I have a 84 250R that I just got. The clutch cable was broken. I put a new one in though I don't seem to have any tension on it. I took the clutch a part and it seems ok. Is it possible that the springs are worn out?

hi;

maybe your cable is the wrong one and the inner part is too long.

you should be able to disengage it by rotating the arm with a crescent wrench.

occasionally the nuts on the clutch hub come loose which can cause problems.

how long has it had this prob?

did it ever work since you've had it?

below is a parts micro "fish" you can use to see if yours is assembled correctly. notice item 20. it is the loc tab for the nut. it is often missing or not properly installed.

Right you can move it by hand with very little resistance. It almost appears that the little hub the pushes on the pressure plate does make contact. The resistance I feel now is coming from the spring on the arm.

If I apply pressure by hand on the pressure plate before I put the springs and bolts if it feels right. Thought as I put the bolts in I get nothing.

I bought the bike last year and this is the first time I've touched.
