This video is old and 12 minutes long, some of my favorite highlights.....

2:00--- 100 RPM IDLE. I desperately need a black 2 door 1977 Chevrolet Caprice Classic to put this engine in. I would put in white contact lenses. Then I would pull up to any import tuner car i could find, turn my head slowly, and just sit there idling, and staring at the driver like a zombie. I fully assume he would piss his pants on the spot.

6:08---They explain the engine in detail through the rest of the video. This particular video is geared towards using the engines in small planes, which i do not have any interest in. The demonstration gets a tad creepy around the 6:42 mark:lol:

Pretty awesome stuff. Full roller engine, horizontal dual headed full roller pistons, no pushrods, no cam chain, no rocker arms at all. The valve train is the coolest. Wonder why more things dont use them.

That IS cool!

Looks like early/mid 80's when this vid was made?? So it might be safe to say that engine design came out of the 70's??

And yes, creepy at 6:42! LOL!

Ya the only thing i can guess is that it was either too efficient for the oil people to allow or too costly to retool for the manufacturers to use them on a large scale in automobile production. Or one reason presented to shadow another, etc....

the song "455 rocket" comes to mind. " I know, she might sound like she's missin"

I just did a little googling....Seems the basic engine design that the Dyna Cam developed from first came out in the early 1900's... Like 1912 if I recall what I read... Obviously the revolver cam design isn't exactly the same as it's early predecessors.. But very interesting indeed! Thanks for posting. :beer

That's basically a squash-plate AC compressor, like the ones they use in automotive air conditioning systems. I always thought the design was cool, and would make a neat engine. I guess I wasn't the first to think that!

Interesting thats for sure. Kind of like the axial Duke engine I had read about a few days ago.

Very cool, but it seems that the Japanese developed that method of piston actuation long ago for another purpose.;)

Hey Dohc;

That thing sounds LOUD. I wonder what 5 of them running at the same time in someone’s back yard would sound like.

We actually considered using that type of system in the Tecate, however, when we compared the hp output cc for cc, we found that the Tecate had more, which was actually no surprise to us because after all, the Tecate IS the most powerful production 3 wheeler in the world!

My faVorite description was this.

"Here we’re flying over Chino California. Flying in this area requires an engine with high reliability and dependability.”

Good to know that flying anywhere else, like over the mountains or maybe the ocean does NOT require an engine with high reliability and dependability.

Hi Dohc…cool vid Dohc. Might I offer you some of this as a token of my personal appreciation for you sharing it with us?

In all seriousnes, im thinking it would need to be in a larger configuration than an atv engine to start seeing maximum efficiency. Not even sure why i think that , but theres something telling me that as a smaller engine it would be relatively heavy.

As far as matching the stock power per cc of the kx smoker line, it doesnt happen often, in ANY stock configuration of internal combustion engine. But i think four stroke tecnology has come a long way since the revolver cam was introduced:D

The 2014 Kx250four stroke puts out over 1.5 times more power than a Tecate 250 2 stroke did.

Im thinking if someone took this revolver cam engine and applied some of the newer 4 stroke technology it would be even more efficient in a smaller configuration.

The 2014 Kx250four stroke puts out over 1.5 times more power than a Tecate 250 2 stroke did.Yes, the "wheezer" bikes have certainly come a long way and even lost some weight in the process due to the abundant use of Prefabulated Amulite. The big bore wheezers have so much power they often have to reduce it in order to go faster.

Like I always say...Kawasaki...makers of some of the most powerful bikes on earth!

If you can haul this much weight with one you can haul anything.

I wonder if they have to fork lift her off or the bike just flips over backwards when the driver dismounts.

I’m pretty sure a 30 year old T3 engine can be modified relatively easily to overpower the current 250F engine and even more sure that unlike the 250 two stroke it will be near impossible to find a 250F engine still in one piece 30 years from now. LONG LIVE 2 STROKES!!!

Reminds me a little of Arctic Cats Wankel. Rotary vane designed by Sachs. The Longest time I EVER spent disassembling an engine the 1st time!! They are so cool! Thanx for posting this Dohc... BTW,,things didn't work out so well for 2pac lol... :(..

" a modded 2 stroke will beat a stock DOHC"

Pretty sure a DOHC four stroke can be modded as well.....just a rumor i heard anyway:D

BTW,,things didn't work out so well for 2pac lol... :(.. Not to take everything too seriously, heres how i feel....

Depends on who you talk to.

Things didnt START well for Tupac. He overcame a lot of struggles in his life, HELPED and inspired a lot of people before (and after) his untimely death......one which could have been considered nearly inevitable, considering his upbringing and lifestyle.

We all die Bill. Its not gonna work out so well for any of us.

When I die Ill be proud to have lived my life the way I want to, not the way someone else wants me to.

I can't do the multi-quote clog the Internet server thing like you and Barnett, BUT!
- It took over a decade for V&H to build a 1327cc 4 stroke Suzuki that made the power the H2 series based race Kawis made in the 70's and those Kawis lasted a lot longer
- Modding a modern 250F MX bike to make even a couple HP more would require one to morgage their home and sell all their pets
- Name a 30 year old thumper that had a power to cc ratio anywhere near a modern F engine (other than my killer 12hp 200cc Yamaha!)
- Not sure about a Southern comeback, but if the Northern States keep banning guns it could happen

I know youre right, you just worded it in a way that made it easy for me to have fun with it El.

Surely you dont think im dim enough to believe that an engine making power every other revolution is going to match the power per cc of an engine that makes power on every revolution........

But surely you cant believe that an engine that makes power every revolution will last as long as an engine that makes power every other revolution without needing rebuilt.....

Yes, I can clearly see now how a 3 x 3 inch video of "Bop The Weasel" takes up soooo much less room. Thanks for the tip!

I can't do the multi-quote clog the Internet server thing like you and Barnett,
If just a couple of extra multi quotes clogs the server, perhaps they should have spent more than just 10 bucks on one.

I can't do the multi-quote clog the Internet server thing like you and Barnett,We understand...it's a "special" talent.

I can't do the multi-quote clog the Internet server thing like you and Barnett, We’d be happy to show you how. Then you could be just like us...sort of......well maybe not…

I can't do the multi-quote clog the Internet server thing like you and Barnett,I would gladly erase mine just to make you happy if only I had an edit button...

…it makes me want take a big gulp of milk and squirt it out my nose…

I just laughed rum out of my nose.

Hi El, I'm sorry I don't have any of that tasty Tecate beer they make down there, or any of the other products you mentioned you like to evacuate through your nose, however, might you perhaps accept my humble offering of a pair of these as a substitute.

Man...I'd be happier than a pig at a Victorias Secret sale if I even had just one of those.

Yes, it is in fact a 78 or 79 YZ80. Who cares….

KAWASAKI…winner of virtually EVERY single mini Championship in the last zillion years….right after Jeff Ward quit ridin that damm Honda.

That was my first motorized vehical!!!Please don't drink while you are trying to spell...it apparently doesn't end up well.

It seems that no one has noticed the very rare and stylish short track bike sitting next to it.

Ok, here it is, Jeff Wards fully restored, actual 1975 factory race bike. I saw him utterly pulverize and humiliate the competition on it at Carlsbad Raceway.

The Honda XR75…without doubt, the greatest mini motorcycle ever made!

There I said it…now please excuse me while I hurl.
