anybody have an idea of what a not running but good shape 350x motor is worth? I could get ahold of a engine, oil cooler and frame for 150 bucks but don't know whats wrong with the motor

The last time I had some 350x motors that were also in good shape but not running I got about $450 between the two of them. However I sold the all the of the head parts as a package deal and probably could have gotten a bit more selling them separately on feebay; in addition to that I sold the cylinders for a solid price but I sold the bottom ends as complete units and sold them very cheap. So that puts it at about $225 an engine but if you wanted to part it out further I feel one could probably pull about $400 out of one if everything was sold at more average eBay prices. You certainly shouldn't have to worry about losing money on that deal.

Buy it. The extended swinger you are talking about has got to be worth the 150 to you alone. The frame, and engine you can sell are a bonus. Find out whats wrong with the engine, resell and make some cash off the whole deal.

The motor can easily bring over $150 in parts, however some of the key items need to be good. The first is the head, which you've indicated ran dry. If that is the case, then the head is not worth much. Check the stator cover. It is another popular item on e-bay. Many 350x's are running around without case savers and misadjusted chains. When the chain skips on the front sprocket, it smashes the stator cover, creating a leak. If your stator cover is solid and not damaged, it alone can go for over $100.

With all that said, I'd still buy that motor, no question.
