Ok ive read that the stem must be used from my 200 for the 200x fork swap? If so how to remove the stem? Thanks

Are you doing the "Ol Deuce" stem adapter?
To get the stem off the 200 forks you need to flip it over and grind below the stem until you see the circle. Then stop and pop it out.

Yes im trying to get my old stem off factory 83 200 and hopefully installing onto 200x trees ...will this require welding ?

The only way I've seen it done has required welding. There is a member here, "Ol Deuce" the sells an adapter pin. It does require welding but simplifies the whole process. It requires grinding off the old 200 stem, slide the adapter pin inside the 200 stem then plug weld together. Then press out the 200x stem and press in the adapter/200 stem. Then you can basically bolt it back together.

On almost all the oem yokes, there is a "circlip" that is pressed towards the bottom end of the stem/yoke.
To press out the stem you have to get to that first.
If you dont plan on reusing the old yoke, then another option is to turn the yoke in a lathe around the stem from the bottom, get to the circlip, remove that and then you can press it out.
I hope it makes sense? If not I can draw a diagram or something. :)
Cant be much more help on this mod though sorry.
Cheers!
Chris

in all senses yes you will have to weld to convert to the 200x tree. OlDeuce does sell an adapter. the site that had a complete pic overview of the process is down at the moment.
