Finally decided to create a profile and ask questions instead of lurking. Hoping I can actually create a thread after this. Recently acquired a 85 350x and 84 250r. Looking for some technical help dealing with the 350x rear end and interchangeability with a 300ex axle.
Thanks.

Welcome and stick it out. Lots of good information around here. Unfortunately i'm of no help on this but I know there has been lots of discussions about the swap.

If you have both try it? It may be close and needs spacing or something , so you can tell us if it works or not! Welcome

I went through with the swap, although not a oem honda 300ex axle. I'll post a write up with pictures and info once I can actually create a thread in the appropriate sub forum.

Why not just post it here? This is a thread. You can also post in the new member discussion. New members like to discuss projects as well! Welcome to 3ww.

Welcome! Do you plan on running the black hills? There are a few of us that run the trails there.

I would love to make it over there for a trip! Unfortunately I'm located south of Sioux Falls so it's quite a drive for me.

It'd be worth the trip for sure.

Hey!
I'm south of Sioux Falls too!
70 miles south, in North Sioux City.
And I also own a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4.
And I ride in the Black Hills quite often.
What town in S.D. are you in?

I've never ridden at Talsma's - what is that?

I unload and ditch-ride my snowmobile on the snowmobile trails starting at the truck stop at the Beresford exit now and then.

Sounds Like there are a group of 3 wheeler riders that need to organize a ride?

I would be up for a group ride! Talsma's is an ATV park on the Missouri River near Avon, SD. Website here:

It's a pretty fun place, only been once and I haven't made it anywhere else so I have nothing to compare to. It was all 4wd quads when I went and we enjoyed mudding.
I've heard great things about the black hills for trail riding. Is it trails alone or mudding and hill climbing?

Sorry, no mudding out here. "tread lightly" is highly encouraged if there is mud. There's plenty of trails out here. When we go out, we average about 60 miles or so a day. Some of the trails are pretty steep and sketchy terrain. No real "hill climbs". However, there's a place called farmingdale that's 10 minutes from my place. It's the starting of the badlands. Plenty of hill climbs there. That'd be another day of adventure.

Ha no mud is fine with me. I was actually hoping for more trails than mud. The scrambler is for the mud, I would prefer to keep my 3wee's out of the deep stuff. Sounds like a great time out there, I will have to see if a trip can be arranged perhaps this fall.

Hey guys, I'm a few hours south in Nebraska. If you ever get the chance, Yamaha sponsors a ride park along with novha and loup power. Headworks park Genoa Nebraska. No entry fees, no exclusions, no State permits! if is 65" or less wide it can ride. Sand, river, trails, hills, mini dunes, mud! Tons of camping, hookups, bathrooms, lake. Jamborees-can am/Yamaha sponsors events! are held spring and fall, rated #3 ATV destination in the COUNTRY no joke.
Stop down if you guys get a chance

awesome, its most definitely an awesome time. during the spring jamboree there were at least 1000 atvs. should have seen the dunes at night, everyone all glowed up with neons/leds. looked like an impromptu rave in the middle of a tiny desert lol.

btw if you ever decide let that 85 350x go, condition doesn't matter......let me know, ive had a hell of a time finding a 85-86 350x.

Sounds like a good time!

Btw...the 350x is never leaving my possession until kingdom come, amen. I had to drive south of Kansas City for mine to make a trade. They pop up around the Sioux Falls, Sioux City region but are usually restored garage queens asking a premium.

funny you mention that....my TeamHonda(Curtis Sparks Race Team)200x came from sioux falls/sioux city area, it was used as an ice race trike for 2 seasons up there 2010-2011 before I got it. god the 11k rpm cam, 8+ axle and sparks exhaust made it flyyyyyy!

Can't believe a rare gem like that was in South Dakota! Seems like only rare units pop up on the coasts.
