Picked up a 82 ATC 200 in fairly good condition for $120. It smokes but does run. The plastics are in good condition look like someone has cut them at one point though. Needs alittle tlc but starts right up with the first pull. Ordered a set of rings yesterday. It did come with a seat and a tank believe the tank is off a 185 though. Anyone changed rings on one like this before? whats the easiest way to get it done? Thanks for the help.

Not too bad for a $120, I've seen worse. The gas tank will look like a 185S (they're the same) have small fill hole.

Yes I've done many rebuilds. Far as easiest way not sure what you're specifically looking for... keep nuts/bolts organized as they come off that's about it. If you have access to typical engine stand buy (2) pieces of threaded rod and use the motor mounts off this, slide on there. Find that holds it the best and can roll around and tip motor if needed. Typical Honda runs good but smokes bad, compression rings will be alright but oil ring will be shot. Long as you hone cylinder out you should be fine. Valve guides in head might dump oil in but if you're going cheap route the rings should be enough. Upper valve cover will be siliconed on, make sure oil journals are free when putting back together. Fairly simple

Thank you for the response Bumsted200s. All the parts are in. I Ordered a new set of rings and A top end gasket kit and a new pull rope. I have yet to tear into it but will begin this weekend. I have replaced the rings on a fourwheeler before I am assuming it will be along the same lines. Not doing a complete restoration on it just trying to make it into a fun toy to ride again.
