Hey Guys

Well with the 250R not functioning and needing a total restoration and the LT250s coming along slower than I
planned I went out the other day to look at ATVs with the wife. Always a bad idea to go ATV shopping with the
wife.

I originally went to look at the TRX250X and 400X and decide between the two of them. We decided against the
250X and then she saw the TRX450R and said I should just buy that as it was prettier. Who am I to argue with
logic like that!

At least this one will match the ATC250R when I am done with that restoration.

I love the "throwback" color scheme, but, it needs gold rims to complete the look, imo.

Thanks guys. This thing is amazing fast. I have to really hold on. :-)
I have to find a shop around Rochester maybe I can get the rims anodized blue. Maybe that will be cheaper than buying
a new set of ITPs. The black has already scraped off on some parts of the rims....not impressed with the paint job on
them.

Yes I'll be sending you a PM....if I can get it to work, for some reason my browser or something in my 5 yr old install
of VISTA is not letting me respond to PMs. If I can't PM you can you shoot me an email at fvt2112@hotmail.com so
we can talk about getting a ride together?

I couldn't imagine this thing as a TPC.....it is hard enough to keep the front end on the ground let alone turning it into a trike!

We took the quads to Tall Pines today and I was able to hit 5th twice. This thing is great! Love the power and it is
great on the trails there, no issues at all.

I missed this post. Now that is not a bad idea!

Nice find. If I were to get a quad, that is exactly what I would go for mainly because 3 wheelers are not allowed on the roads here, but quads are. Only thing I dislike about the new quads is the fenders, look at your trail riding pic... there is mud everywhere from lack of fender!

From what I read, the difference from a 400ex to a 450r is huge power wise.

The difference between my kid's Z400 and my 450R is huge....I call his quad the puppy. Drives him crazy.
The 400s though you can putt around if you want with the 450R there is NO putting around at all, but no
different than it was on my '88 TRX250R. All go all the time.

We found a lot more mud that day. Still not bad mostly hit a few big puddles. We didn't play in the mud pits
like the others...they were coated in clay.

That's kind of funny because my dad rode a Z400 at work and was impressed because he couldn't keep the front wheels down. Good to know that the 450r isn't much into putting around, but then again, I don't normally putt around much.

I looked at some specs, idle is 1600rpm, pretty high. Couldn't find a solid hp rating, people were saying between 33 and 39hp. The big reds were like 19hp? Seems the 450r would more than double a utility trike from over 25 years ago. Took a peek at the 250r service manual, no hp specs, gah! I'm thinking the 85-86 250r's made around 33hp?

For the hell of it I looked up the 350x specs, 27ps (26.6hp).
Ironically, I have a blaster that my dad started putting a 500cc twin engine on it, factory specs on it was 49hp and I think the engine was a 1972 Yamaha tx500. Just need to hook up the exhaust pipes and the electronics. I find it hard to believe that it makes that much more hp than a modern 450cc sports quad.

Maybe it is the difference of crank hp vs rear wheel hp?

Well........i guess if theres no good weed.......you gotta settle for Dirtweed ! How much was that with tax , license and doc. ?

Yeah I'm so oblivious I didn't know what that meant until recently. I pissed off a buddy at work a long time ago and he just blurt out Dirtweed and it stuck. Never touch the stuff.
I think I got it for $7100 don't remember the exact number...or I don't want to remember them as it was pricey.

Not sure on hp rating for the 450R all I know it has enough and I don't plan on any mods at all to the engine. I do plan on getting a rear rack for it as I am tired
of wearing a backpack to carry stuff I want riding. PRM makes a nice rack for it.

Do you think I could find M10 1.25 pitch nuts anywhere in town today to mount my new Cheetah tires? Of course
not.

Nice ride, and I REALLY like the black rims. All in all, that is an awesome quad you have there!

Finally got the Cheetah's on and brought it out for pics with the 40D. Going to Tall Pines to ride next weekend so we'll see
how these compare to the Stock tires on the 450R. I like the looks of the Douglass wheels finish better than the stock rims.
Plus will be easier to clean.
