125 m

Got my 125 M running but it seems to have trouble shifting. What are some common problems and fixes? I haven't changed the oil yet will that help.

Sorry didn't know it would make a differences on the 125 M anyway its a 1984

Yes it makes a big differnce the 84 85 125m is a completly diffrrnt trike than the 86 87 125m. First I would change the oil. However this model in perticular has a big problem with not shifting its usually this part.http://dratv.com/268n.html but I cannot tell you this is exactly what is wrong with your particular engine.

I will drive around then not want to down shift.

Is that part near the clutch plates would it be worth doing them with that part?

Just go ahead and pull the right cover and inspect that part its probally about to break. I think you should be able to change that part with out pulling the engine. And of course its worth fixing.

Its wet so i need oil change stuff handy right?

Ok since you have bee such a big help so far I am just going to continue this. I think Half my problem was I was over revving the little thing in low. It will basically go through all 4 gears in low I put it in high and get first and second but pops out of High when you try to shift in to 3rd. same problem or something diffrent.

The high and low is just a sub tranny. Kind of like a transfer case on a truck. If it pops out of gear in high, it should do it in low also. If your sub tranny is popping out there might be something in there keeping it from going all of the way in.

My 85 125m has the same problem. Shifts fine in low but jumps out in high around 2nd or 3rd gear. Currently working on a fix.
