I have my 84 200 big red apart good compression the ignition is the problem I am going to order a cdi off ebay is the racing one better or should I get the black one and on the coil is the hi performance red one better than stock or should I stick to the stock one thanks for the advice mike

In my opinion, nothing beats OEM specs for dependability. You don't need a racing anything on a utility 200, that's what sport/suspended machines are for. A common spark problem on the 200's is the stator coil. Get a manual and follow the tests in there. Feel free to ask questions as long as you've tried first. There's a ton of ignition related threads for 200's. I just went through it myself when I lost spark.

I bought the RM Stator CDI box for my 200X ( should be same application on your 200BR). EBay listed it as a hotter ignition box than stock. 20 hrs ride time later and it still works great. Visually, the OEM part looks to be much better quality than the RM unit which has a huge Made in China sticker and the connector was resined in all crooked and haphazard looking.

No complaints about the $60 Ebay RM unit thus far.....but which one do I trust to go 60 miles from civilization? OEM Honda without a doubt.

One problem I've had with ebay cdi's is that it is listed as "fits" such and such years and models. Sure it might fit your trike, but when you still get no spark you have to wonder. Then you check the ohms specs and they are different than a manual lists for yours. Watch out and check it good before installation.

Well I tested the pulse module and stator they were in specs I ordered a new 5 pin cdi and did the conversion and it sparks Now I have to get brakes but it is a start thanks for the help mike
