Guys I've got a 250sx that is supposed to be going home today for some tender love and care this weekend. But suddenly when she cranks, and I give her any throttle it cuts off. I ran it yesterday and it seemed normal, now today it won't even idle as strong as usual. Help please!!!

The carb is plugged. More specifically the starup and or the pilot jet has junk in it.

It probably needs to be rebuilt anyway.

Okay, you sound pretty positive. I didn't realize the thing could just gum up sitting there. I've never cleaned one out so that should be added fun this weekend

It was probably some junk in the bottom of your tank. Clean out your tank. You can use gas but I advise against using gasoline for safety reasons but you can buy a couple of large bottles of rubbing alcohol instead of gasoline. Get an inline fuel filter and put it between the tank and carb. Here is my tutorial on the carb to guide you.

If your trike is going to be down for a bit while you work on it, you can send me your carb and I'll do it up for 90.00. It will look like this when I get done with it and I will test it before I return it.

Well the first thing I did when I got the bike was clean out the tank, add the inline filter because I knew the inside of the tank was rusting. But there is no residue in the filter... I will follow your tutorial. Hopefully the bike is only down for the weekend but if she's down for more I will probably send it to you

Ok good. Check the primary jet. I'll bet the hole is plugged. Since it is starting, the startup jet is probably ok. Be sure to pop the main nozzle out that is under the primary jet and clean that.

Okay, I haven't looked at your tutorial yet or the manual because I can't where I'm at. But I'll strip it down and spray her out.

Wow that tutorial is long haha. The other thing jI wanted to mention was the fact that it will start but is not easy to start and takes many kicks to get her going.
