I have a nice set of 15" racing rims that I would like to use. But don't know if ATV tires will work on them. I' d hate to spend a ton of money on tires only to find out they're made differently and won't fit.

I believe you can use the tires that are made for the side by sides. They ain't cheap though.

Im not sure i dare ask why you want atv tires on racing rims lol.. but as long as the rim size is the same then i dont see why they wouldn't fit. Just like bob said im sure side by side tires would be your best bet.

That's alright you can ask. It's just that I've had these brand new rims laying around; that I bought for another trike project; and I'd like to get come use out of them.

I'm not saying that they aren't being made, but I'm not sure you can get atv tires in 15". I'm also not sure that you can find an atv that has the same bolt pattern as a car has.

They make all kinds of 15" tires for ATV's. And I already have the spindles to fit the rims. I'm just trying to find out if the ATV tires will fit my rims. It seems like no one knows. The spindles are from an EX400 and they are the same bolt pattern as the wheels.

I guess as long as the rims aren't too wide for the tires, then they should fit.

Well, I'm about to find out first hand if ATV tires will fit on car rims. I just ordered a pair of STI Black Diamond XTR Radial ATV tires in 26-9-15 size.

Those are some nice looking tires. Let us know how they mount up and how well they work.

I have a little bit of experience with car tires on atvs, but not atv tires on car rims. Hondas generally have a 4x110 bolt pattern, which matches tons of 4 lug car rims, older toyota corolla, some small hondas, etc. Car rims with car tires on a atv/atc is nice for the smooth ride on the road, and ok for off roading, just stay clear of the mud :P.

Anyway, subscribed to hear what experience you run into with the atv tires on the car rims. Good luck!

I've put lots of car tires on ATV rims. They were 13" but there shouldn't be any difference with 15 inchers. There's no reason it wouldn't work the other way around. Good luck!

hey as long as the tires are the right size for your rims, why not? they may not seal well for who knows why but in that case you can stick tubes in them. cant wait to see how this looks when mounted onto the trike!

Well, this is a little embarrassing; but I hadn't looked at my rims for many years; and assumed they were 15". I know never assume anything; but nevertheless I did. I ordered 15" tires and when they came in; well they didn't exactly fit on my 14" rims. So now I'm faced with a dilemma; either buy new 14" tires for $250; and have a set of 15" tires sitting around; or buy new rims for $180. After weighing the pros and cons; I decided on the wheels. And they will be ATV wheels not car wheels. I really can't take a chance on them not working, at this point. So sorry, were not going to have a definite answer to the question on this post; unless of course someone else tries it.

Gah, I should have said something! I was thinking 15in was an odd size to throw on a atv.

Good luck on the return. I was looking forward to the finished product. By the way, when I got my 1980 atc 185, someone had put 14" car tires on it by drilling new holes in the rims. Crazy thing was, they were off of a front wheel drive car. I was told that it was because the atv tires kept going flat from stickers.

I don't get what is so crazy about the fact the tires were from a front wheel drive car? A tire/rim is a tire/rim, how it receives power to turn is a null point. Several smaller cars are the same bolt pattern as hondas, 4/110. Quick example is 89-97 toyota corolla, but you will need to put the tire on backwards to clear everything unless you have like +3 wheel spacers.

I looked up the Corolla pattern and it is 4x100 not 4x110. http://www.vehicle-bolt-pattern.com/toyota-lug-reference-guide.html There are very few cars with the 4x110 pattern out there; but there are some. It's really quite a rare pattern in cars. Still working on returning the 15's for 14's.

I received the OK to exchange the 15" tires for some 14's; so I shipped them out last night. As soon as the 14's arrive; we'll know for sure if ATV tires fit car rims.

I don't know about a car wheel but I put knobby tires on my racing mower and it worked fine as long as the rim is the right size.

Well sports fans it's official. I got my ATV tires today and mounted them on car wheels. It works great, and here's proof.
