Carburetor and stater. Between it not getting a hot enough spark. The carburetor just wants to flood no matter how I set the the carb.

open the carb, and remove the metal plate that holds the float needle seat, pull the float needle seat and replace the o-ring , they go bad and then it will continuously flood out. I fought with that for a few months with mine once. If you know how to solder it is easier and cheaper to change out the source coil than buying a new stator.

I'm glad that worked for you I have had to do that on 4 different carbs already, seams like a downfall in the design, but an easy fix once you know it is the culprit. have you ohmed the stator yet, or checked your grounds and wiring for shorts, sometimes it is wiring and not the stator that is the problem . I know you have already ordered the source coil but make sure to look over the wiring as well before it gets there just to make sure.

It's actually the cdi went out. I took the one off my 84 since it needs to be rebuilt now. It sucks fuel good but lost compression in the top end

the 85 lost compression or the 84 lost compression? sounds like a valve or ring issue, I'm leaning more towards valve, but you'll have to put some marvel mystery oil in there and check compression and see if it increases, if it does then it's the rings if not good chance it is the valves.

It's the 84 with compression problems. It would start every time first pull with no choke. It may have a stuck ring so I'll try that and let it set a few days

The 84 had to have the complete motor rebuild. Sorry im just now getting back to you guys. I also ran into some problems with another one i just picked up recently. I just set the valve lashes to factory spects now it has power but stalls out when you punch it from idle and before i set them it wouldnt stall but felt like it didn't have power. Any ideas what it would be and before i forget before i set the lashes it would only run with air screw in all the way and would run rich it still has stock jets 112.5 main jet and 20 pilet jet and the trike is all stoke 150 psi on compression

clean and or replace the air filter , also blow compressed air through the frame where it connect to the air filter tube.

Its been bypassed from the frame and has a new k&n filter on it
