somebody spent a good bit of time and effort to fab/ machine/ convert this bike to a trike back in the day. Very clean....

this has been on ebay for a couple of months now when it first popped up I was very surprised because you don't see this sorta stuff in OZ

Not an '81 RM500 as those weren't around 'til '83.

More likely an older RM400.
