wow... $40.00 is well worth it in my eyes. lol do you have all the plastics for it? that's the big money stuff. go to the partzilla site and download the parts breakdowns for the trike, it will give you the names and part numbers of all the parts and they sell a lot of the stuff there as well...well, what ever stuff is still made...lol plus you can cross reference the part numbers and see what other bikes, trikes and quads they were also used on this way it makes it easier to find hard to get parts on like, ebay... say if the carb floats were used on your trike and on a Honda 2 stroke dirt bike and two different quads, youd now be able to search for it under each bike instead of just the 250R.
good luck, it should be really cool when done! Yes, the 250R is a very popular trike, lots and lots of members here have them!

Thenni got to his hoise and it wouldnt start so I gave him 40$. Which I as well tjought was well worth it. I havrnt done much searching for parts but im gonna go ahead and start lookin now. Thank you again. I jist sold my 81 R an now im kickn my self on the ass.

Wow, $40 that's a total steal!!!! Take a look at the vin tag, from the pics it looks like it's an 86, or maybe even better and 87.

Several parts from the 250es big red swap onto the sx, most of the engine is the same, main difference is the color and transmission being geared differently. Bolt pattern is the same on the rims, but I think the 250es was 9in rim while the sx was 8? Body parts do not swap. Differential does, and I think the hubs/axle do too.
Looks like you mainly need the rear fender, seat, tank, and the rims?
I have some sx parts for sale, but none of the above sadly. I do have some big red rims if you don't mind the larger rim.
For common problems, first is the "cold start" problem, mainly the jetting in the carb when you choke it isn't quite rich enough, not a big thing. You can find the "fix" for it if you search the forums for it.
The one way bearings for the kick starter wear out and the kick starter slips, this also effects engine braking, and if not fixed can take out the starter's side one way bearing. There are tons of posts about this issue as well on the forums, most posts I have seen are with the 250es big red, but the sx has the same setup.
The last common problem I know of is shifting problems. Mainly caused from abuse, some times a pin in the engine will brake that holds the spring to return your shifter to the center position, I think you can but the pin new yet from honda, and typically the broken off pin don't find its way into anything. Another cause of shifting problems is braking the cage on the shifter shaft, I have seen it a few times and I'm pretty sure it is caused from jamming on the shifter too hard, or running into something with the shifter.
Besides that I don't know any other common problems for these machines, super reliable if taken care of.

What parts do you havve?? Something is dragging when I kick it over I think its the starter?it still starts when I use the electric starter and if I kick it a few times it fires right up.I do have the tank that was in pretty bad shape and it now ready to be painted again. The plastics and seat are both pretty tore up but I do have em. Any info would help thanks man!!

I have an entire big red I might be parting out, and I have parted 2-3 in the past. I'm not sure what would case the drag on the kick starter, but I have everything for that side of the engine from a big red if you don't mind it being silver, or you could repaint it black. I think I have a sx engine around too somewhere with a bad rod.
