just wondering if anybody has ever rebuilt the forks on a 1984 Honda BR 200 ES was wondering if you need any special tools or if it can just be done by a guy in his garage would be helpful if anybody could share pictures and know how

Buck with my set they were all seized! I took them apart, cleaned and degreased the springs! Cleaned all the crap out of the forks! Greased them all up and put on new dust seals! So much better, they least now work! They were very stiff before I did this!201677
Then I painted forks with new rubbers

wow great job Ivan they look like brand new so when you took them apart you don't need any special tools no springs or nothing flying out at you anything dangerous

Yeah Iam doing a full resto on a 200es! Almost finished few more weeks. Ill post pics once done. I just removed the boots down and undid the two side bolts on the forks. Be careful so you dont damage them, i brought new ones. Then remove the two nuts under the forks which are two small dome nuts. I pulled them apart, but i left my springs intact as they were in good condition. Cleaned them out with petrol and degreaser. Then i greased them all up and put new seals in. Works a treat now. So much better than before. Nothing went flying them just poped out.

Cool thanks for the info my BR the right side part of fork has a lot of movement and pulls the BR to the right tried to tightened the bolts but still has a lot of movement so I guess I will take it apart just not the springs

Yes take it apart, tightning the bolts will do nothing! take both out and have a look and see whats wrong with it, might be a simple easy fix.

no I have not taken them apart yet yes I'm a little afraid that if I take them apart I might not be able to get them back together properly or to get the right parts for them

Buck another route is to put a 200m front end on your 200es.

also an 83 atc 200 has exactly the same front end as the 200m so it should mount right up. And if you cant find anything local how about ebay.

Buck no luck yet with the forks? Here in Australia we can't find no parts, I brought everything over eBay, cost me an arm and leg for postage!
