Hello all. Im new to 3 wheelers and recently bought an 83 185s. It has 5 gears with no cluch and you shift down. Im wondering if this is the norm for honda atcs? If not could someone give me a rundown of the ways different models shift and if they have a clutch or reverse? Thank you. Im looking to get a trike for my girlfriend and would like to know a little about the different models before shopping.

thats completely normal for it to shift down and not have a clutch, most of hondas trikes do (except the 250r, 250sx, 350x, and im not 100% about the 200sx) as for reverse a 200es will have reverse and 250es, im unsure of other models though

Pre 1985 models will have the downshift pattern. Not sure if that is for ALL of them.
200es, 250sx, 250es, 86-87 125m's have reverse.
The big reds have a dual range transmission, (high and low), as do some of the others ones but I don't wanna list them all and be wrong.

The 200x, 250r, 350x all have a manual clutch.
